I'll be sticking with my fixed stock 81 for the time being. Too many jobs around the house need to be finished before I could justify another $1000-1200 on a lmg version or any firearm for that matter.
 
You read my mind. Shorten the barrel to 18.6", turn the OD down to 0.590 for an AK front sight, and thread the muzzle to accept an AK-style brake.

Also, once I get my hands on one I'll start working on fabricating the idea I showed you in PM for the VZ.

That's a good idea--although to save $$ and hassle of finding an ak front sight, just lop off the bbl and mount the existing FS rearward, plus thread the bbl of course.

I bought the one for my VZ from Brownells. If the barrel is tapered, it may be difficult to press the sight back further, and may damage it. This was the case with my VZ, luckily the AK front sight had a larger ID and slid back as far as I wanted. If necessary, it's easier to shim than to turn down a barrel diameter.
