Type 81 Side Mount Options?

If that Middle-finger is for me....I feel quite disrespected....

Lol, take your time and catch your breath in a safe space. First rule if CGN, don't let someone's silly post offend you, people are just kidding around.

As for the devaluation of a rifle with bubba mods?
It's a $1000 rifle made in China, it's the last firearm in my collection I think of as an investment. I've cut up my sights to make them easier for my eyes and when I find a good side mount that will let me put a dot sight on it I will drill or weld as needed to make it work. It's not a precision rifle and I don't expect it to shrink groups drastically but if it makes it easier for me to shoot it then it's an improvement.
If the mount I find interferes with the safety I'll drill a hole in it so I can still use the safety.

Collectors rifle, lol. It's a POS that failed it's military career and is now a cheaply built civilian rifle for us to use to waste x39 ammo.
Considering the rifles that are now coming to market in the $1000 price range I would have rather dropped my money on something else or waited for the price of these to come down to $500-$750. I do not expect to see these go up in value.

Back on topic, thanks zupermann,
Good to see some pics of some mounts on the rifle.
I think I'm going to try to find a one piece non removeable and mount it just high enough to be able to remove the dust cover for cleaning. We'll see though, I'm not shooting this one as much as I was when I got it so spending time and money on it has dropped in priority.

...and regarding "helping": this is the ONLY official PLA red dot option for the Type 81 which supposedly mounts directly onto the rifle "as is".

"Military Type 81 AK 3x Red Dot Scope"

The only odd thing about that theory is that i dont believe there has ever been a Type 81 airsoft gun produced.

There is however those fugly Type 81 .22cal bb guns floating around built off type 81 parts. Maybe its for one of those??

Also under the manufacturer description on that website it says "China military"
I have one of these red dots- it appears to be the same as the one on this website.. there is so little information about these sights out there I have no idea how to tell what is legit and what is not

Id just wait for Tactical Imports mount. It may be a good piece of kit.

They are bringing in a mount?

Supposedly, there isnt much detail about it yet. Except that it uses the preexisting rivets....

Me and another that i was talking to are hoping that by rivets they actually meant trigger group pins. Basically making the mount similar to the highly praised "AK master mount". There is also no mention i believe as to what optic mounting method the Tactical Imports mount provides. Will it be a 1913 rail? Or a SVD rail? Or a AK rail?

Time will tell.

Kinda sounds like a clamp mount that would use the rivets as an anchor point maybe? I'd rather it use the pins like you said. I'd like to see a pic rail, personally I'm not much of a fan of com bloc optics

The only con to the 1913 rail setup would be that it would have to be situated high enough to allow the dust cover to be removed. Where as a AK or SVD rail setup could be very low due to its quick detach repeating zero design. Those who want a 1913 rail on top could spend $$ and get a cheap 1913 side mount. Or spend $$$ and get a uber nice RS Regulate side mount. And the combloc fans could carry on mounting combloc optics. Best of both worlds.
