Do the RCMP monitor the forum? Of course... it is public.

Do the RCMP need this forum to come up with concepts on how to classify or reclassify guns? No. Not likely.

Are the fears that this pellet gun will be classified based on forum chatter rational? No. And I've further said why I believe this.

Do I believe wild speculation of reclassification based on fear rather than evidence and understanding of the current legalities is good for our communty? No.

Those are my points... just to save speculation and 3rd hand interpretation by the easily offended.

Dude are you implying that I confessed to a firearms crime ??? The intent of my post was to share a cool and unique air rifle with fans of the type 81 that may not have ever seen one before because its 20 years old and has been long discontinued.. Yes..I thought it was cool that it appeared to actually share some parts with the real rifle. That is not a crime lol

It has been scrutinized already. If it shoots >500fps it is a regulated firearm. A restricted one.

I have never really shot it much or past 10 meters. Like most springers its hold sensitive but I get most pellets within an inch at 10m. It helps that it has a fixed barrel. I'd say it shoots just over 400 fps with standard weight pellets.

No, that is not what I implied. What I meant was that in the context of a public forum being monitored by the authorities, his example of the speeding ticket confession was completely flawed. Burden of proof for a speeding ticket can't be established by someone merely saying they went over the limit.

So instead, I chose an example that was much more adequate and eloquent to make him understand what type of information shared here would be susceptible of having the authorities in alert mode. To an RCMP officer monitoring information online, a gun crime confession and newly obtained info about the legality of a receiver used in an airgun would both rank as something that would warrant action on their part.

You certainly did not confess to a crime, far from it.

Right. I was more concerned with your statement about the receiver being surplus, because if it had been the case, and from CA receivers, then it could've actually moved the gun to prohibited class.

Which is why I was making the point that it wasn't a good idea to open such cans of worms on here, regardless of which gun it applies to. Thats all.

You may not realize it. But I think you do and are simply unwilling to admit it.
Maybe you should take this opportunity to reflect on how you interact with people on this forum, as I've often seen you be reactive in the same manner on other topics and to other people.

But if you wish to call me "easily offended" instead and remain in denial about your behavior, then I guess it speaks even louder about the content of your character.

He's getting bent out of shape over a pellet gun because he thinks it may be reclassified because it looks like a bent gun (type 81).
 
if the rcmp is really reading this site they must have already forgot about the air rifle since they must be laughing so bad about where this tread went
