Type 81 vs type 97 reliability?

French Indo China War 1945-1954, Korean War, Vietnam War 1954-1975, Sino-Vietnam War 1979, Sino-Vietnam Border Skirmishes 1979-1989, Soviet-Afghan War 1980-1988, numerous wars in Africa, Latin America, Middle East, and Southeast Asia. The SKS has been used extensively in dozens of conflicts throughout history where it fought in many battles. Check out the SKS wikipedia page.

i think the question was more related to t81 and t97.

I also recall seeing a type 97 in 556 in use with a Ukrainian soldier in the current Russian-Ukraine war. It was definitely a STANAG 556 mag inserted in the type 97.

That's interesting, if true. I'd be curious to hear how our STANAG version of the platform fares in actual combat.

Are you sure it wasn't a Tavor? Ukraine has been building them on license from Israel for almost a decade now. Never heard of the OBZ95 being fielded by Ukranian soldiers.

Yes, it was an instagram photo but it was clearly a type 97 in 556 with a stanag magazine. Probably a private purchase. Civilians were encouraged to take up any arms against Russia.
