Type 81

To be frank, they easily made over $500k profit on this deal after mags and accessories are factored in. How hard would it have been to lease enough space for a week or so to ship in a timely manner to a logical plan?

Not getting into ship in a timely manner but with $500,000 profit, I reckon they can afford a bigger warehouse, hire security, unload the entire container, check all the boxes and prioritized the shipping to first come first serve.

Is TI releasing their finacial statements to you guys or something?

No, I'm not an insider, lol.

I laugh every time I hear posters guessing how much they made on this shipment, as high as $750,000.

The guessing stems from an article in guns and ammo a decade ago but if factor all the variables, I think claven2 comes close. Imho.

So glad I didn't purchase one of these garbage rifles! Already one up for sale on EE for significantly less than retail in brand new condition!
Mine shoots almost bang on right out of the box...trigger is great, action is smooth, less recoil than an SKS, ergonomics of an AK...it's great! not an H&K, but far from garbage...

Be sure to keep checking your junk/spam mail folder. My email from TI went straight to my junk for some reason and I didn't actually see my tracking info until after my rifle arrived.

I have an idea
instead of posting five times a day saying that there is no tracking info yet how about we'll all assume that you haven't gotten it yet and you just come back to tell us when your rifle arrives and include some nice pics.

24 pages and hardly anything about the rifle other than telling us it's not here yet.

This is not directed at anyone specifically, I'm just tired of coming back to all these T-81 threads hoping for some more pics and/or range reports and all I get to read is 4-5 pages of "no tracking for me today"

Yes, I suck with the irons but there is a nice cluster :p
50yds Chinese corrosive surplus (Cabela's)
Point of aim was the bottom right target, I still need to adjust the sights a little more.

The important part is that at 25 and 50 yards I can ring my plates at will shooting freehand. I will be taking this rifle for a walk to the hay field one of these days to try to thin out the local coyote population. At 100 yards or less it will do the trick :)

It's a fair question, but here's my logic:

Each rifle: $350-400 in China to account for labour cost inflation over the last 10 years when we know from published material the PLA used to charge $200 per rifle in large quantity orders.
Each rifle's shipping cost across the pacific: $50 (remember, they were shipped in bulk)
Each rifle share of brokerage fees: $10
Shipping from BC to Alberta in bulk: $10 per rifle
Cost per rifle for the alberta subcontractor to assemble orders and ship: $30 each.

That add up to around $500 per rifle. They are selling them at $1000 plus tax and shipping, and most people bought extra mags & stuff, which is likely bringing a fair margin. But ignoring any margin, they are clearing $500,000 on this deal right off the top if my above math is close to reality. And they did it all with free money they didn't pay any interest on for TWO YEARS.

It's really quite a payday for TI and they are doing their best not to spend a single penny more than they need to on things like an efficient and effective shipping operation with extra staff and reasonable warehousing space.

Good for them, we all put up with the cr@p service b/c there is no other way to get one of these guns, and they are reaping a huge windfall.

To be fair to TI, I'm OK with the price I paid. I have no issue with their profit margin, even if my estimates are correct. I'm just pissed at the SLOWWWWW.... customer service and poor customer messaging.

PS: I still have no shipping notice, order status still just deposit received :(

I really hope I get my folder before xmas lol. This last month has gone by so slow! Worst part is there are already people chopping them up and selling on EE before i even receive mine
