So I brought my fixed stock out to the range in its stock configuration and shot 200rnds of Chinese corrosive without a single hiccup after they came out. I than installed a tactical imports mlok forend and a XFIRETACTICAL mount and red dot and took it out today for the first time. Now it will not run with just about every malfunction you can think of. Fail to eject/stove pipe, fail to feed and bolt hold open will not consistently work. Seems like the more hot it got the worse it got. I WAS using a different batch of Chinese corrosive but can’t help to think it has something to do with the accessories I installed. And help would greatly appreciated.

Make sure the gas regulator isn't on the 0 setting
This happened to me the first time I did a disassembly and it wouldn't fire the next time I went to the range

I did play with the regulator a little bit when I was there and it was definitely on setting 1 but didn’t have the tool to take the piston cover off. Maybe something isn’t lining up right.

Tool? No need for tools to take regulator or cover off. There is a finger with divot on the cover that should sit in the notch of the gas setting. if its raised up too much, it means regulator is set between settings and not aligned properly. You can adjust gas setting with rim of the cartridge. Setting 1 is on the right it should match the cartridge holder.

If gas set properly then need to look in the receiver or its cover. See if return spring is sitting properly in the receiver notch. Any mount bolts stick out to interfere with bolt carrier travel in to the fire controls.

I have the mlok aluminum forend. The gas cover attaches to hand guard with hex screws. I’m hoping the gas system was not aligned and I didn’t over torque the threaded pins for mount putting the stamped receiver out of shape?

I'm thinking something is torqued too much cuaosng binding

Ok well, hope you figure out what is actually happening as with all mods R&D always trial and error

Thats what Im leaning towards too. You wouldn’t think it would as the pins are just pinching the mount to one side of the receiver, not squeezing the receiver together but maybe something is out of whack. I’m probably going to disassemble the whole thing and buy a torque wrench for reinstall.

The first time I put mine together the forward vertical "pins" on the lower section of the handguard were rubbing up against the gas regulator when putting it into position 1. I'm still not sure how I got it in the state, but a full reassembly with less torq seems to have fixed it.

hmmmm thanks man. Yea I’ve taken off hand guard and optics mount. Have a torque tool showing up today going to reassemble everything with it.
