I love bullpup rifles but I have a couple concerns with laying out 3K for it. First it's a Chinese design. No not that it's crap quality. I just find the Chinese weapons are poorly thought out. I was on the list for the Type97 because of it's price and quality. The actual ergos weren't well thought out. The Type 88 also has some of this going on. Now add in the 3-9x scope which probably isn't as good as my $200 Burris Fullfield II scopes. The propriety rail system and mags also don't help. Last but not least a quick attach to the barrel bipod? I can get that very cheaply for my CZ858 or SKS. We all know that this system does affect POI. It's far from ideal on a designated marksman rifle.
I'd buy a Swiss target, ACR with match barrel or have a Tavor rebarreled before going this option. Now that being said the Type88 isn't very common and does look pretty cool. If it had regular scope rail, no scope, proper attachment for a decent bipod and was at least 1K less in price it would probably sell a lot faster.
Buy it if you're looking for something unique or different. Don't buy it as your only shooter.
