Type 88 Sniper

Yes, I really appreciate this company bringing in so many cool guns to Canada but that is pretty steep.

We would love to be able to sell these at 1 or 2k, but unfortunately it is a very expensive rifle for us to buy in the first place. Our margins on this rifle are less than most of the other products we sell.

The Type 88 Sniper is mil-spec, accurized and does come with a scope, mount, adjustable bi-pod and 3 mags already. These all contribute to a higher cost at the end of the day.

No offence, but I think giving a 1913 rail instead of scope, bipod etc would be a better choice.
$3k one can purchase Swiss Arms, FS2000, Tavor, High end AR. I hate to say but given Norinco's reputation (affordable pricing at quality's expense)
few people is going to take it.

Espeically given the Type 97 Fiasco, I'm not sure if T88 uses the same design as QBZ95 and T97, but regardless its a gun that could potentially be classify as variant of T97 thus prohib.

I'm shaking my head at this thread...."It's Chinese so it should be inexpensive"....LMAO.

The price will be what it will be.

Here's a pic of the scope mount. It doesn't look at all like the T97 mount. It looks decent, there is a rather large "recoil lug" for the scope to nestle into under recoil. It looks like it would be fairly straight-forward to design a 1913 rail for it if someone wanted to.

I think the 3k price is justifiable if glass it comes with is decent quality and there is a sub MOA gaurantee. Would be nice if it comes with a Picatinny mount also.

But I am not sure about the design of the bipod, it looks like there will be zero shift.

Seriously... Not everything the Chinese make is of poor quality.

At least wait for the reviews to start trickling-in before you whine about the quality/price ratio.

^^ This equals stupid and wrong. For one, the Type 97 is not a variant of anything prohibited, it was prohib because it supposedly could be converted to full auto easily, so the variant rule has absolutely no connection to this case.

Congatulations on bringing in so many new things!
If I had the cash handy I wouldn't hesitate to get one strictly for curiosity.

You misread what I posted. I was actually trying to make the exact point you are chastising me about...you missed the  I put in there.

I never complained when I paid $1500 for my Type 97. Even when most guys on this forum were calling them $600 rifles. The fit and finish on the T97 was easily the best I've seen on any Norinco I've owned. It's not what you would expect from western manufacture, but I think the Chinese military complex is less concerned with cosmetics. It was very decent though.

People have to realize that the Type 88's are actually fairly rare and seem to be difficult to import in any quantity, hence the price.

If I had the scratch I'd probably go for a T88...I've always thought they were pretty cool. I recall another member on CGN here with one and if memory serves his was about $3k. Unfortunately property taxes just cleaned me out for a couple months now...maybe I'll revisit this at Xmas time...but thanks T.I. for bringing in some hard to get stuff...

I have one. It rings of a true military built rifle. I am satisfied with the accuracy, the operation is spot on no matter what ammo I feed into it and the fit and finish leave nothing to complain about.

The pricing? It is better than what I paid for mine.

That being said, I'm the type that realizes you have to pay a price for "one offs" and exclusivity.

Although it may tend to devalue mine, I'm pleased more have arrived and that more will be owned by shooters like us!!

Cheers!

I'd like to see one "in the flesh" before making my mind up. Is Tactical Imports going to any gunshows to display these items? How long has the company been around?

What magnification range is the scope? Is it a bdc type? Reticle type?

As for the Type 88 itself, I recall reading about them a few years back to favourable reviews.
