Type 88 vs Tavor

The Old type 97 is more accurate than tavor ? Wow

Have you own the old type97 before ? Or you just been "told" it can do better than tavor ?
Pretty hard to believe that kind of building quality can do better than tavor

I would love to see you be the guinea pig and buy a type 88. Take one for the Team. Seriously you should wait for the Type 97 it is cheaper and if the new ones are as accurate as the old ones were they could be used as a designated marksman rifle. Dr. lector was getting 10 round sub moa groups with his restricted one and a 20X scope. I have put my 36X target scope on my Tavor and it is only capable of 1.75 MOA with hand loads, I tried American eagle and that was giving me about 3 moa and I shot a lot of norinco and that was about 4 MOA. My point is the old type 97 restricted was way more accurate then my Tavor. The ergonomics of it were worse, but accuracy was better. The type 88, nobody really knows anything and if they do they are not sharing. The only ones that are sharing are those who are trying to sell their rifle or probably friends of those trying to sell one.

Here's a copy of Dr. Lector's Target shot with a T97 at 109 meters. I'm only re-posting it from another thread to bug him because he hates the attention. :D
It's important to note that each group has ten rounds and each square is an inch. If you've never shot group after group like this, I can tell you that it is very tiring, and requires extreme concentration. To me, that is what is so impressive about it....

People always cut down norinco quality... You do realize Norinco works like a master company that takes guns etc from numerous factories and sub companies right? Each sub company has their own products, QC, tolerances etc. by all accounts the type 88 is supposed to be pretty good in those respects.

The old "made in china = junk" adage just doesnt hold true anymore.

Thanks clobbersauras. I would never have been able to find that old thread.

I am not saying that the type 97 is better than the tavor I am just saying that the restricted one was more accurate then my tavor. I think the ergonomics are better on the tavor. My tavor is totally reliable. I am still on CanAms preorder list from 2008 and when it comes in I will compare it to my Tavor.

I always find it odd that no one ever cmpares the Type 88 to an SL8.
I think that that would be a better comparison of two very similar purpose rifles.

Raising a thread from the dead, just to say 'wow' at these groups, amazing.

Well the type 88 (QBU-88) purpose is a sniper rifle the Tavor is a up and go assault rifle built for speed and balance.
Not really the same thing so not too sure on what you want us to compare.

Did you mean to say type 97?

The Tavor for the Canadian market is designed as a modern sporting rifle, not an assault rifle.
