Are there any names ??? Names would help, I can certainly help make certain people aware !!!
We can take this thinking further:
All citizens should be put in jail since someone could decide at one point to kill another.

also, I almost guarantee that the media will side with these cfc a**holes. Antis care nothing for our laws. They would gladly live in a police state if it meant our guns would be gone.
Supra- I will send a letter to van loan asking him to explain how the reclassification of the fsn and the review of the 97 is being done according to the firearms act. I will also state that these guns are being reclassified illegally, and would not stand up to a court challenge. I will also inform him that this is being run by assistant comissioner mole.
He always has. I had discussions with him months ago and he told me at that time exactly what was going to happen. So far, he was right-on in his predictions and not only about the 97 issue. Just a very innocent example: I told him that I was looking to buy a non-restricted T97 and he said that they will never reach the market (just like that!). He said it was way easier to buy a restricted at that time and install a longer barrel (very expensive solution). He said almost in these exact words: “ … but remember, you’ll be lucky to be allowed to keep it past the spring time”. This happened months and months ago, but he told me other things that are now proving that he knew. I didn’t listen and now I regret it. I don’t remember what exactly he said about the FRT # of such a rifle, but I seriously wonder if I had followed his advice, what would have happened with the FRT number of a t97 that went from restricted to non-restricted status.Specific knowledge of the issue the RCMP has with the rifle does not mean the details should be shared in a public forum. Asking Lector to post info is unfair - and who says he has any info??
That is why I asked him, so I can find the non-relevant issues and I will decide for myself if they are important or not (yes, I'm sorry I use your thread for thisThe only relevant issue is that the RCMP believe the Type 97 to be an easily converted auto. I've been told this by a Tech. By what mechanism they consider it to be "easily"converted matters only to those who may be willing to fight this in court. The only thing we can do is write our MP's and put pressure on the CFC to make a decision. That being said, I would donate money for legal proceedings.
For me, the specific mechanism the RCMP uses for conversion is of no interest. Reclassifying my semi auto restricted rifle to a prohibited full auto or converted auto status is what concerns me.

.I kinda wondered why he didn't post anything in my scope mount thread....
He did tell Johnone long ago that the Type 97 would never again be imported into the country. We should have listened I guess.
Lector is a fascinating dude.
I was told some speculations about why the Type 97 was scrutinized in this new shipment. And I'm now maybe piecing a few things together as more info comes to light...I really hope these speculations aren't true as it would really mean that we eat our own....
No not yet and I am getting concerned that this may end like the G22 5 yrs in limbo and still no actual offical policy
There used to be (last year) an FRT #126100 which was for a Norinco Type 97A Semi-Auto Rifle, Classification "Non-Restricted"... but that FRT # doesn't come up now when you do a search of the current on-line FRT. So they have either permanently removed it or they have suspended it pending review and until they put it back it's the same as removing it. For all intent and purpose that number no longer exists.
Currently the FRT Table shows only "Prohibited" classifications for all searches of Norinco T97's, Type 97, etc.. There are now two listing (Type 97 and Type 97A). Both come up as classified "Prohibited" and showing as "Full Automatic". That's pretty definitive... it doesn't show as being under review... or "draft"... or "pending".

They deleted FRT #126100 from the online FRT.So did this prohib status on the FRT for the Type 97 just appear? From what I have heard it's still "under review"
