After havin my t97 jam using my grey lar mag im wondering what everyone elses experience has been with their t97. The stock magazine has been fine with no feeding issues but almost every 1 out of 10 with the lar mag pushes the bullet in and jams. Ive also heard poor crimping on the norinco ammo may be a factor, please share your experiences so far. Also post your round count to see if this goes away with use

I used LAR pistol mags in mine and no issues.

Fired a few hundred rounds...

Only issue i find with it is there is no rust protection on that thing....

I found the Grey LAR mags to run poorly on my T97.....the follower sits too low for reliable feeding and it jams up sometimes crushing the bullet back into the case. Those grey mags are now long gone. I've shot more than 500 rounds now using the black (C Products) 10 round LAR mags and the metal 5/30 DH mags with no feed issues or jams whatsoever. All my mags were purchased through SFRC. I'm very happy with the guns performance.

As mentioned, some mags sit too low.
A quick adjustment with a file on the feed ramps and you're set.
Did this before I put a single round through it, and have had absolutely zero issues with any lar, atrs, or p-mags.

My grey LAR mags work fine. I painted some flat black awhile go and they were tight in my other rifles but work great in my t97.
They are the only mags I use.
I've only used the American Eagle AR .223 ammo.
I did have a pushed in bullet when I used two LAR mags coupled together and both loaded. I think the extra weight pulled down on the front of the mag. Only failure I've had in 300 rounds

I used the lar grey & black mags with no feed issues . used the Norinco yellow box & surplus .223 . Everything seems fine so far . My only complaint is my riffle doesn't like any of my P mags . I plan to break out a file & open up the mag area.

this. mag sits too low. i have used black RRA LAR mags exclusively with no issue. I have about 100 rounds through my T97.

They do run out of the box we know that... We are trying to determine what works most reliable with it, and if theres a break in point

It was just posted hat they don't run with lar mags or some GI aluminums and others won't work with pmags. That doesn't sound like it works out of the box. Are the magwells not to stanag dimensions? Or is the problem the lack of feed ramps? I have yet to own a firearm that didn't run out of the box. Maybe I'm just lucky? No, I don't buy garbage.

What's that? TDC is trolling a T97 thread? Well I never...

Merry Christmas bud. :)

lol shut up clown. u mad my $1000 T97 runs as smooth as your $3000 AR? Or u mad that you can only shoot your AR at paper targets all day long while I enjoy non restricted status.

My black LAR mags work perfectly.

Except for two, every T97 issue people have called in about was cured by not using the grey ASC LAR mags or taking the gas setting off of 0.

The other two were simple fixes as well. One had two spring installed in the mag release and the other was solved by taking it off safety...

Thanks for the response chemist, i asked a t97a owner in the philipines what mags his gun likes and pmag gen 1's are tight. I think this confirms the mag wells are the same specs. One thing i have noticed unrelated to mags is our guns are missing that flip out metal cover infront of the front sight, its spring loaded with a bokt in the middle of it

I love it. When a gun is taken to the gunsmith to be worked on, trigger smoothed out etc to make it run and function better everyone oohs and aahs. Smith&Wessons are done like this, 1911's etc etc.
When someone says to file some feed lips into the T97 we got haters here saying how the rifle is ####?

Fact. Not all mags are the same.
Fact. LAR mags are some of the cheapest produced mags you could buy, and if we werent stuck with them, nobody would even try to run them in their firearms. Everyone would be running P-mags with 30 rounds.

So gee, a crappy low cost mag doesnt run well in a T97....who'da thunk it.

If "massaging" the firearm at home means filing some feed lips to make the LAR15 mags run, so be it. Worlds not gonna end, and no-one will hate you for it.

If i wasnt a leftie, i'd own a T97 and i def would be filing some feed lips and polishing up those suckers.
