Except for two, every T97 issue people have called in about was cured by non using the grey ASC LAR mags or taking the gas setting off of 0.
The other two were simple fixes as well. One had two spring installed in the mag release and the other was solved by taking it off safety...
SO what you're saying is that the trend amongst those who buy a T97 are not the brightest and fail to read the manual? With the operator removed you still have a rifle that doesn't run with LAR mags and as mentioned before are often "tight" with pmags. So it still doesn't run right, got it..
I love it. When a gun is taken to the gunsmith to be worked on, trigger smoothed out etc to make it run and function better everyone oohs and aahs. Smith&Wessons are done like this, 1911's etc etc.
When someone says to file some feed lips into the T97 we got haters here saying how the rifle is ####?
Fact. Not all mags are the same.
Fact. LAR mags are some of the cheapest produced mags you could buy, and if we werent stuck with them, nobody would even try to run them in their firearms. Everyone would be running P-mags with 30 rounds.
So gee, a crappy low cost mag doesnt run well in a T97....who'da thunk it.
If "massaging" the firearm at home means filing some feed lips to make the LAR15 mags run, so be it. Worlds not gonna end, and no-one will hate you for it.
If i wasnt a leftie, i'd own a T97 and i def would be filing some feed lips and polishing up those suckers.
You'd be partially correct. I disapprove of sending your firearm to the smith for anything other than some specific parts replacements or installation, usually those that require special tools. 1911's are junk as well, and its no surprise that many who champion that dead horse of a platform also find bullpups "awesome".
I agree that not all mags are the same, but its hard to dispute that the vast majority of other rifles that sport a stanag magwell will accept and run Lar mags without issue, and the pmag as well.
I really don't care what people waste their money on, I don't. All I'm trying to do here is illustrate the fact that people will continue to champion their system and fabricate excuses to validate their choice/purchase regardless quality or lack thereof. The reality is, the rifle sucks and requires user mods to run right. It's not ambidextrous and is near impossible to mount optics too, the manual of arms is slow and counter productive. As long as the masses are aware of the headaches associated with this rifle then my work is done.
