Type 97 gen1 reliability

I’ve got well over 1K through mine without an issue, I know that’s not a lot but not one stoppage after I tinkered with it. I had to lightly file the rear of the magwell to allow it to accept LAR mags and pmags and then used a round file to give it more of an AR feed ramp (watched video on YouTube for this) and it’s been a tank ever since. Considering new out the dealers door it was under $1000, was worth the effort into getting g it working properly. Mags all drop free too!

i had the locking lug bashed and the bolt face leaving an impression on the back of the barrel and it still worked fine.

I had 2 gen 1 T97's. The first would have feed jams with one LAR mag I had but otherwise ran fine. The second one had feed jams every 20rds or so. I did the M4 style feed ramp mod and it improved to one jam every 50rds so I gave up and sold it. No parts ever failed on either. I do miss them though. I liked the carry handle and hooded front sight look.

Cheers
Moe
