Type 97 NSR Rail Wear (pictures)

I'm not worried in the least.
When I see some rails half chewed through, then I'll worry !
6000-7000 rounds is also the life span some manufacturers will give you for their barrels, so not a big deal. I can count on one hand the number of people on this board that would ever put that much ammo through a t97...

$1000 for a gun with a life of 6000 rounds? That means that not including ammo, each round fired costs about 15 cents...thats an expensive gun.

I would have to agree. I mean I'm all for more firearms and more options for us shooters to enjoy. The more the merrier etc etc , but seriously wtf were you guys thinking buying these for that price? I got a bridge to sell you....

I'll be pretty shocked if they only last 6000 rounds, that's probably a very cautious estimate...
I'm very pleased with what it is for the price. Hell, a new barrel for my lmt mws is the same price as a t97.
It's unlikely mine will ever see those kind of round counts anyways, it's just a nice compact truck gun. I've got ar's with better ergonomics and easily replaceable barrels for slinging mass quantities of ammo into backstops.

I noticed the wear after 200 rounds and use EWL Slip 2000 for lube in that area, but haven't gone back out to see how it holds up

This.

The Norc AR is only rated for 6000 rounds too I believe. I think it's just a generic number the Chinese slap on their guns. I have heard of some those guns being used as rentals at the range and they're pushing a lot more than 6k rounds and still going. The wear on the T97 rails just looks like breaking in to me. If it keeps getting worse then maybe there's cause for concern.

If a firearm as a MINIMUM advertise life spam of 6000 rounds befor needing repairs, replace parts or major component, its not super but its livable cause you can keep it going, ie. Replace a barrel. But a gun in eitch the receiver wors out wt#?? My rfb has 800+ rounds true it and it looks like new and its also advertise as a 6000 round gun... you don't see hat with ar's cz , sks......

Bull####. That allows distributors like North Sylva or Marstar or CanadaAmmo to say, "well the gun is only rated for 6000 rounds so if you've had it for five years, that's probably the issue..." I'm not going to say they would all take that approach, but they don't just randomly assign a lifespan to something without reason.

Non-issue. Wear is normal. Any surfaces that are in contact will demonstrate surface wear, that will taper off as the rifle/pistol breaks in. Grease, oil will reduce friction after break in period. Stop getting dramatic over normal occurrences. All my guns have wear marks internally, no exceptions. Talk to me when something breaks.
