I know I've posted this a couple times but seriously. An explanation has to be given for this. I was really strongly considering buying this until a friend pointed that out to me.

Why would they EVER put a selector switch there?

if you compete with it, thats a game breaker, have to unsafe, shoot, then resafe to stow on lots of COF

the few seconds it takes adds up

for hunting, meh, leave safety off if you want

all the tactical "operators" on this site know their finger is the only safety they need though

Here's a better pic of the safety selector, sorry for the quality.

I've seen revisions of the T97 that have moved the safety to the proper location, but I don't know if they are in production yet.

The safety is a bugger to operate quickly but it's not a deal breaker by any means, you just have to practice with it. The real problem is the mag release, which could easily be rectified by someone producing a Norgon style ambi release.

If the safety acts as a hammer block rather than a trigger block, it would have to be way at the back where the hammer is, no?

Yup. The Tavor safety is toward the front and blocks the trigger but does not block the hammer from striking the firing pin IIRC.

Safety position doesn't matter to me. I don't trust them. My gun is either loaded (when I'm using it) or not loaded. Not a deal breaker for me.
