I agree that the non-airsoft mounts would be more secure... I just don't want to wait! :)
 
Some other member posted it before, you can get to all the internals without removing the carrying handle. So what's the prob?

Another member also pointed out that the release button is on the right so it doesn't get caught on any soldiers rig.

Anyone try something like this yet?

By the sounds of the OP's report on the CANAM mount, my RS one is a lot more solid for half the price. It hasn't budged under recoil. It may in the future, who knows.

Ok range test = fail. Can't hold zero. Either gotta use a shorty or a dot, mounted as far back as you can comfortably look. The previous setup with rings was fine, held 0 on 3 range sessions, but the way pictured, its mounted too far forward and the naysayers were absolutely correct. My SKS sight adjustment tool is a little too narrow to fit, so temporarily, I just have to do Kentucky windage with the irons until I dot it.
 
I would recommend a smaller scope on some lower rails, I know that you're looking for magnification. If you are going for a dot, here's my setup:

Have you checked in the pistol grip amongst the cleaning kit for the sight adjustment tool? I seem to recall someone posted that one of the items is that tool. I can't confirm it at this time but worth a look.
 
Picked up my 97 today from Wanstalls also picked up a NRT004 rail made in China and a TRS - 25. Cleaned the Type 97 and found it a lot like my Type 97A but after cleaning it then mounting the rail as well as the TRS-25 noticed that the red dot was way left and when I tried shifting right could not line the dot up in the bore when bore sighting. Took the TRS-25 off and noticed that the rail is pointing off to the left, I loosened the screws and tried refitting the rail but still off to the left. Crap !!!! Anyone else have this issue?? Don't have enough adjustment to center the red dot. Ok UP DATE on this rail pointing off to the left, took (Rifle) it back to the store with the rail and the TRS-25 - Great Customer Service!!!! The manager and a very helpful customer service specialist with tons of patience checked it out, the manager agreed with me after checking out the alignment of the rail on the mount and said to give me another rifle, the customer service specialist let me go through three boxed rifles till I found the one I felt was right. Happy to say they let me mount my rail and the TRS-25 on it and all the stars lined up. Wanstalls deserves a shout out - thanks much boys greatly appreciated. To clarify it was the mount on the rifle that the rail attaches to that was out of whack.

just a question from a lefty.
Does anyone have an idea of how to put a shell deflector on the T97? I went out with a friend to try out his T97 this morning and as a left hander took a couple brass square in the face and bloodied myself up. Any thoughts- other than keeping my face a few inches farther back, or trying to shoot right hannded. - i tried that this morning and I suck . haha.
That is the only issue holding me back form owning a T97 myself.
 
heres another question.
So while trying out the T97 this morning we noticed the switch on the front of the gun. the spaces are labled 0 1 and 2 respectively. we flipped the switch to one side (maybe the middle I can't remember) and it made the gun single shot w/ no ejection. Flipped it all the way to the left position and there was no difference from that and the right position still semi auto.
What is the purpose of the 3rd position.? Why not just a single shot to a semi shot? no use for the 3rd position. anyone got any ideas?
