Type-97 used Low price!

We have a simple mark up formula for retail from the price we buy it for.

If you are unhappy with prices, contact the importer or manufacturer as we have zero control.

Let's decipher what you just said. You (in this case TSE) are applying a mark up formula. For the price you buy it for. Please shed some light on how you have zero control. You have a formula and you set the price, correct me if I'm wrong, which I'm not, this is 100% your control. What isn't your control is what the importer or manufacturer charges for their product. Unless they have a set retail price, which you haven't indicated given your use of a formula, then ultimately you determine the price you sell it for.

Hey there it is! The stupidest thing I heard all day.

Their majical formula is cost +X%

Like every other business in exsistance it's pretty hard to pay bills selling everything at cost or cost --

Lol.... economics is something that some people don't grasp.....

How would you make any money (or cover your costs) if you didn't mark up your price a bit.

Gun dealers make almost nothing on guns.

You guys are missing my point. I'm quite familiar with economics, costs and including those costs associated with the firearms industry. You don't know my background so don't be so quick to judge. If you read what I said it's not me laying down anything stupid. Nowhere did I say things should be sold for cost or make no money. What I'm saying is that at the end of the day in most scenarios it is a personal and/or business decision to set pricing. I know there must be a certain profit margin to stay in business, and make a living. But to say that a business has zero control is just stupid.

Thanks for the advice JR but I'll continue to vote with my wallet for now.

I wasn't trying to slam TSE's pricing more just pointing out the simple fact that non restricted black guns in Canada, along with some antique handguns, command a higher price due to gun control schemes that are currently in place.

I can't blame an importer who is willing to capitalize on our gun control scheme for their own profit but I don't have to like it.

No offense taken. I also agree with you and have long championed to limit the "Canadian" surcharge. Sometimes it is legit when a manufacturer has to make a special batch just for our market, but sometimes it is just capitalism gone wild.

I was just pointing out that prices have a way of working out, just to stay competitive.

Stay safe,

JR

I apologize. I should have refrained from posting an opinion as an absolute.

What I should have said is that to be competitive, we have very little room to maneuver on most firearms and the price is in a lot of cases market determined. Of course we could price it higher and watch it get dusty on the shelf or have a chase to the bottom and end up closing our doors due to lack of profitability. But that would just be stupid ;-)
