Type 97 Waiting thread

This morning, I was awakened by my 17month old son. My wife put him in the bed with me, we watched cartoons for a bit, and he had some milk. He soon discovered the "remote controlled fart machine", and amused himself with that for about 20. After we had a family breakfast, and we put the boy down for his morning nap, my wife began some chores around the house, and I headed to the fastener store for some supplies. We've worked, played, and chatted for the rest of the morning, and into the afternoon. Overall, it's been a great day so far, and will more than likely continue on that path. It is, like the film title, "A Wonderful Life". My life "involves" receiving a T97 from Chris and Mark at CanadaAmmo. It doesn't "revolve" around receiving a T97... I'm not surprised in this day and age of "Instant Everything", that many folks lack a certain degree of patience.

My "dance card", like many others is pretty full, and I'm confident that the staff at CanadaAmmo are also incredibly busy. Perhaps we should give them the breathing room to do their jobs, while following the spirit of this "Type 97 WAITING thread".

I'll leave with this...

I think there's legitimacy for a lot of CanAm's patrons to want to know information about their purchase.

I caught a lot of s**t from my wife for the $800 transaction on my credit card last month - (though that's just made me want it even more). Wifey doesn't care that $800 is cheap for a non-restricted, .223 bull-pup rifle that takes STANAG magazines. She cares that that's $800 not going towards paying off our car loan.

Maybe this is a lesson some others have previously learned (and from the sounds of it, others have), but now I know - unless a gun is in country, in the vendor's shop - don't commit to buying it.

I think a lot of people's dissatisfaction around here stems from the fact that the expected delivery date was advertised on CanAm's website (and here) for December 08/January 09, we were billed in February, and even being extraordinarily optimistic - it will be Mid-Late April before we all get them. I already signed on for a .223 "Fun Match" with the a local Service Rifle club in April, but may well have to back down because this is my first rifle military style rifle.

I've never worked in retail or ran a small business - but I know for damn sure it's not the onus of the customer to set expectations about a particular product or service, it's the vendor's.

That said, CanAm, I know custom's f**ked you; so I think there's some reprieve to be garnered from that. I'm sure you're doing your best to get the rifles in, and I appreciate that service (though I feel sorry for you having to deal with both angry customers and customs).

True but the temptation of having the first of anything is over powering to some is the prime motivator to many .I buy guns because they fit a need rather than a want I don't particularly care if this rifle shows up next week ,next month or 6 months from now.It is not a pressing issue as I have several that are doing the work so speak now ,I had waited 4 yrs for a McMillan rifle that was supposed to be delivered in 6 months to arrive was I worried that it wasn't going to show up NO sometimes patience has it rewards .I was rewarded with a an awesome bolt action rifle which quite frankly is beyond belief in workman ship and design .
I think people need to take a chill pill and sit back and relax if you are not prepared to handle a minor inconvenience like this IMO you really should not be owning firearms , The set backs Cam Am has been facing are not a result of something he has done wrong but are a result of petty beurocrats trying to look important to there supervisors and justifying there jobs.

LOL we shouldn't be owning guns because we eagerly want our guns? You gotta lighten up too dude.

Mrsmitty- if you're only making 10 bucks while crapping on OT, you don't crap long enough dude :D

Ouch - so you paid the full balance and the rifle didn't come for 4 years?

I suppose the problem is the youth of today (myself included) live in a world of instant gratification. For anything to be considered a viable activity - it just has to be that way.

I think instances like this are bad for the sport - and I think the douche bag anti's that want to see private ownership of guns want things like this to happen.

We all gotta lighten up though.

The weather here in edmonton sucks, I wanna ride my dirt and street bikes! Besides work I have nothing to do but check this thread.

You guys waiting may want to check out the posts in Discussions & Alert forum
RE; 15 FRT's removed

sounds like we have to consider the source (banned CGN member) on this unsubstantiated rumour so far.

I have emailed Gary B's office for clarification.

This isn't about patience and I think that many of the CANAM customers have shown a lot of patience - months worth and then weeks of delays. I think this is more about poor communication and a lack of effort on behalf of those customers. It is one thing to begin selling something months in advance of the arrival of the stock. It is entirely something else to have unexpected delays creep into the process and have nothing done or nothing said about it with the exception of "wait".

And as for instant gratification, this doesn't even come close.

Look, I get that there are things beyond CANAM's control, but a little advocacy on behalf of their clients would be appreciated. That's all I'm asking.

Stop whining...............you will get the T97.................jeez!!

I am sure if this is not to your liking I am sure that CamAm would give you refund if not I will gladly buy your rifle from CamAm

I doubt they will be offering full refunds just because you say so.

If they have not delivered a firearm, but have recieved payment, the party who hasn't recieved the firearm, is contractually entitled to a refund.

I'm not encouraging people to do that, but if someone wanted too, they could.
