Type 97A and reloading brass?

I am debating over purchasing an AR15 or a Type 97A. I remember seeing a picture of brass coming out of the 97 pretty dented in the case body. I can't locate the post now though, as most of the 97 topics are huge...

I'm hoping one of the few people who own or have shot a 97 can chime in. Is the brass reloadable after being shot? Is it possible to dial down the gas system in order to eject brass more softly?

I'd love an AR, but the allure of being able to get a non-restricted bullpup, a two tone 1911 AND a 12 ga mag fed shotgun for the same price as an AR may be too much for me :D
 
I don't reload but others have told me that reloading these would be no problem....I don't know though. The gas system only has two levels, violent, and extremely violent:). I have only used the lowest setting and the brass gets launched:D
