Oh my that's ###y and perfect, if it comes with an extended charging handle it can be even lower, don't need the front sight - we've got low set irons to throw on those rails already.
 
That flat top would really make this rifle a lot more palatable. Even despite the fact that I could never shoot the rifle because of the right hand ejection port.

Lots of let hand shooters working on solutions. From one thread it seemed a deflector for you guys was in the works.

So no word yet on those scopes?
 
ok guys i can probably draw you a flat top for the type97 i only need someone who will have one to take some quote and look how to hold it , and after that someone to make that ...
 
I'd be in for a flat-top rail for sure. I'll be interested to see if someone makes one.

However, I'll settle with the 3x scope if needed!
 
I have a feeling that in the next couple of years we will start seeing a lot of stuff for this rifle come into Canada. I think this rifle will be the new favorite due to it being non-restricted.

I saved a $100 rail by drilling thru the steel propietary chinese mount and successfully installed and zeroed a 3x ACOG TA33G with the help of Mr JB Weld and Red Loctite. Eye relief and head position is excellent!
 
We don't have any plans for propriatary Type 97 optics, but the Hensoldt RSA's are perfect for mounting on carrying handle style rifles due it's super low dot height and compact size.

Here is a pic of one on a PS90:

Last shipment of RSA's will be available next week.
 
If that flat top becomes available, I wont have much reason not to buy one! That's the only thing really holding me back right now.................. and the mag release is in a weird spot, but I can live with that.

X2 It is a copy of a in service front line PLA rifle made for the canadian market. That is what I want. I don't want to Americanize the rifle??? I would like the same optic and mounting system that 2.25 million PLA soldiers use. And yes they all aren't issued the QBZ-95's !
