Hey everyone as the title states how long do people in ontario mainly the over populated gta wait to get membership at a club you were on the wait list for?

it took me 5 months to get Target Sports Canada range membership. But I was very unfortunate to apply during the range ownership change.

if you are into rifles and handguns eesa is the best, indoors and outdoors, always taking new members. not so much trap shooting, usually only on sundays.

Frontenac Rifle and Pistol in Kingston has hundreds of people on the waiting list - so many that they are not accepting people even onto the waiting list right now. Probably 1-2+ years to get in at this point. Great club when you do.

The RA Gun Club in Ottawa has no waiting list and you can sign up anytime for handgun or rifle or both. You may have to wait to take the handgun safety course offered twice a month or the rifle safety course also offered twice an month. Some folks in the GTA have come to Ottawa to do the PAL combined course due to long waits in the GTA.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I think I'm going to give this shooters choice a go I'll take a drive out tomorrow and check it out. My girl wants to get into archery aswell so it seems like a good fit through the winter atleast and then find something for my rifles come the better weather.

I do everything at shooters choice and when I want to stretch my rifle out passed 25 yds I drive out to Silverdale's for a day pass. 9 hour probation period durine store hours then 24/7 access. Just a heads up.

So my first 9 hours have to be during store hours? Also can I bring my AR there? Thanks again

In that case you might as well go to EESA. For the same membership price as shooters choice you get:

- 20m 24/7 indoor pistol/rimfire range
- 45m action range
- 85m range
- 100m rifle only range with gongs
- 300m rifle only range with gongs
- 40m archery outdoor
- 25m archery 24/7 indoor

No probation shoots as long as you take the club safety course the same day you attend member orientation. Only probation rule is that you cannot have access in the indoor range for 90 days. But a member can let you in if you find one.

PS someone please correct me on the archery distances. I don't do archery...yet

Seems like there is quite a shortage of gun clubs north of the GTA.
My wife and I just got our PALs and bought some rifles but no one is accepting new members.
Sharon, Barrie, Orillia, Oshawa,
It seems the closest that is still accepting members is Parry Sound, bout 2hrs drive north :(

I'm actually heading north to look at 100 acres on Wednesday hopefully that goes good and then come the summer I'll have somewhere to shoot until thenill look at shooters choice for pistol .. I don't think I have a 2 hour each way drive in me unless its to my own house/property

Target's new club, Calibre Firearms Association, should be much faster than the old Grange club. When I mentioned last time I'd never received my membership card after several months, they printed one up for me in the spot. I shoot in weekday afternoons, but the range has never been so busy I had to wait. The $600,000 in improvements and upgrades has made a huge difference. They are indoor only though, up to 25 m and calibers up to .308 I believe.

I've hears the Aurora Rod and Gun club is accepting members, but I've never had any contact with them myself. When looking for their URL make sure you get the .ca one. There is an American club with a similar name.
