U.n. Firearms marking regulations

A sample letter and good information can be obtained here:
http://www.csaaa.org/csaaa-update-canadian-firearms-marking-regulation/

I think it's important to stress in the letter that the make and serial number are all they need to comply with the goals of the UN Firearms Protocol. We may disagree with the Protocol. I disagree with the very existence of the UN, but there's no need to question their campaign promise on this particular issue. We can simply show them how existing markings will serve their purpose, and they can declare compliance.

You got it, BINGO!

That info isn't right. The reg doesn't require the manufacturing plant where it was made. I think it was there in an earlier version but isn't anymore. The letter doesn't make mention of it.

MANNER OF MARKING

4. (1) The firearm shall be marked by permanently stamping or engraving on the firearm’s frame or receiver the word “Canada” or the letters “CA” and

(a) in the case of a manufactured firearm, the name of the manufacturer and the firearm’s serial number; and

(b) in the case of an imported firearm, the last two digits of the year of the importation.

Trudeau is after a security council seat if I am not mistaken. This marking crap is just him bowing down to try and get what he thinks is an important status symbol. He wants to show off in front of the world, he doesn't give a sh#t about what other people think, nor will he listen to the people he claims to represent.

This is the way I see it:
Turdo wants to legalize weed. He can't as it's against UN law regarding controlled substances (don't remember the exact title) that several nations ratified including Canada. UN wants firearms marking. Harper told the UN to flock off basically by ignoring it and really had no time for the UN. Turdo wants to have his lips firmly & permanently attached to the UN's azz. UN says "ye must agree to and implement firearms marking protocol and we will allow you to pass your legalization of weed" policy. Turdo gets his lip placement.

Flawed thinking or somewhat on the right track?

Flawed thinking as I think the UN marking became law under a Conservative Government.

As I see it the Conservatives have not proven to be our friends, they are just slightly more friendly to us than the Liberals. We need to work on them now, before the next election.

Table top milling machines can be had for under $200

Can a table top milling machine produce the marks as described in the legislation? Who runs it and what do they get paid? How many guns can they do in a day? How long until the $200 POS wears out or damages a firearm that is being worked on?

If it was this simple, Wolverine CSSA and many others would not be worried about it.

Correct, it is not the time that the engraving takes or even the $100,000.00 cost of the engraver, it is the logistics, the time it take to unpackage a gun, oil it and repackage it after engraving, ensuring it goes back in the correct box and does not receive any dents or handling marks on it. Occasionally we find really picky customers who expect a new gun to look like a new gun! :) All this for what purpose, when all new guns today already have a unique identifier, the serial number.

So will the manufacturers be able to set this up for firearms coming to Canada and implement it into their production line? The Russians put the laser Molotov export marks on all the surplus they push out the door now.

Its a hotly debated open question if import markings applied prior to import will be acceptable.

I guess I'll make sure my credit card is empty to buy all the German guns I've wanted before the due date.
I'd say ya we should all write the pm but looks like the liberals as a whole think guns are bad and the source of all crime even with the crap we go through already just to get to the range. And they are just concentrating on legal weed and finding ways of fitting the words "middle class " in every speech.

Yea, middle class, just another way all the rich liberals can look their noses down on us. Well maybe there is a way to force the cost onto the government, make them set up the etching machine and hire people to do it if they think it is that necessary!
