U.S. Army to Replace KAC M110 Sniper Rifle with H&K Precision Rifle

Sporting arms and tactical world shares some common marketing strategy with the fashion industry.
Colour matching is passé, very soon civvies and pros alike will follow and start deliberately mismatching their toys in a certain way.
Hence my sig line as a predictive statement.

lol. You are probably right. I can see it now. Billy Bob and Jimbo, sitting in a duck blind, discussing the significance of a camo barrel and receiver and a green butt stock. "Very faux-pas Jimbo. Shoulda went with the brown! It matches your outfit, and really brings out your eyes!" :p

The colour issue has to do with the difficulty of getting observable colour consistency in dying anodization other than blackish/dark hue, and the fact that parts are made in different times and by different lines, and therefore anodized in different batches. And matching plastic colours with anodization are just difficult and unreasonably anal.

That is why manufacturers just cerakote over the anodization if they want anything other than black. Then the end user will get the same colour for everything, and no more complaints. The issue here is that people will get upset if they see any spots or edges where cerakote is not applied.

Ergo the SCAR, which some are starting to like the shades.

An SR-25 is on my want list. If it was NR, I'd already have one sitting in my safe waiting for moose and caribou season to open. For whatever reason...the HK just doesn't have the same draw for me.

Sr25 is my kind of gun, but I cant save the cash for one at the same time as saving the cash for my Tesla model 3 coming in 2 years, so, the sr25 waits.

I'm sure the $12,215 price tag includes spare and replacement parts throughout the contract.

That is usually the case. One kit probably includes a rifle case, the scope, suppressor, bipod, a bunch of magazines, cleaning kit, etc. so the price is in the normal range. Each CF sniper rifle has its own case with accessories that I listed.

That's $12,215.21 per rifle. I think we all could build a sub AR10 for that kinda scratch.

Winner of the U.S. Army award as one of the "Best 10 Inventions" of 2007, the M110Semi-Automatic Sniper System (M110 SASS) is a precision 7.62mm NATO caliber, gas-operated rifl that is regarded for its battlefied performance. An evolution of the original Mk11; the rifle's accuracy, 20-round detachable magazine, ambidextrous controls, abundant MIL-STD 1913 rail mounting capabilities, and effective sound suppressor contribute to the system's combat success. Like the Mk11,the heart of the M110 system is a match-grade 20 inch free-floating 5R cut rifled barrel. Each of these 110 limited edition systems is individually marked and is to come as issued by the U.S. Army.

That kind of money would be better spent on training reg troops how to shoot, rather than contract another non-necessity.

Went from a solid rifle to another solid rifle. Ugly? Looks like an ar. How well it works is more important. And the kac seemed to have some complaints in performance in the field.

Somebody asked if it was a propietary mag only. Iirc the magpul mags do work in them.
