I jsut bought a U.S G.I stock from a board emmebr and am being offered my choice of brown, Tan or Green.

Originally I thought black but have been told it shows grease finger prints imperfections etc.

Does anyone have some pictures of m305's in these colours? He's useing the Krylon camo paints I belive.

the man wants some monochromatic pictures. All nice fellas' with green, tan or brown stocks, please post some pictures.
Thanks.

What did you use to get the pebbled finish? Is that one paint, or a pebbled surface (i.e. truck bed liner) covered with sand tan paint. Details, man! :)

I did my first stock in olive drab only (too lazy to do more), but the second for my SOCOM'd M14 I want to do in sand.

Okay, here is a pic of the 3 stocks I got from globaltrades when they had them... They were used and in rough but serviceable shape. As you can see, one is green, one is brown and the other is black... A friend and I filled the selector hole and did the pin mod on each of the stocks. Since we were going to paint them, I see no reason not to buy a fixer-up'er...

Cheers
Jay

Here are 2 of them done up, not a great pic, but the USGI stocks are a HUGE improvement over the norinco wood... Mine's the green one, the pink one is the wife's... :ar15:

Nope not truck bed liner. I tried truck bed liner twice once in black and the next time in tan. I must have got a bad batch because even after shaking the crap out of it, the stuff came out all goopy.

The paint I used above was a spray on granite texture for exterior use which I found in the US. I've seen it in Home Depot but only the indoor stuff. This was 2 years ago and I can't recall the name and the can is long gone. Maybe they have it up here now or someone on the board knows it.

It was then followed up with 2 coats of Krylon Matte Clear Kote. Looked damn sweet with a rifle on it and the lower rail installed.

I started a refinishing job yesterday on a pistol grip setup with a collaspible stock. It has been stripped, sanded and primed but I can't decide which base colour to go with. Sand seems to be a popular choice so that'll probably be my pick. Since I am abolutely crappy at doing camo jobs I'll leave it to whoever I sell it to to do their own scheme.

Searched tonight and it is Krylon, "Call It Stone" 18000 series paint for exterior use.

The pebble paint that Turf here used looked really good when I got it. I really wanted to try out my own type of camo paint job so I stripped it...:(
I do recommend the pebble paint though. It seemed to be really tough.

So you stripped it md, your paint job turned out great:beerchug: Now with your new rifle get out and do some shootin, give us a range report, and we'll all be happy dancin banannas:dancingbanana: :) (Sorry, had to use that smiley at least once.)

Also decided on my base colour for this new project. I ordered some green "Spray Grit" from Brownells tonight. I figured that since I have already done lots of tans I'll try something different. I am going to try and do some shading in black as well. I won't do any clear coating in case a buyer wants to add to it.

It takes about 5 or 6 days for my Brownells paint orders to reach my stateside broker (they only ship ground conus for paint and other aerosols, etc.) so I'll post pics at the end of the month.

Hey BUM, is the paint job you're doing for your collapsible? Can hardly wait to see it. I am going to do 2 more after this one and hope to have enough to pay for the JAE 100 I just put a deposit on. Course that means I'll have to buy another M14S:eek:

My favorite m14 stock was one of those. It was very straight and narrow at the forearm - that it was no wider than the handguard the whole length, and so tight around the action that you almost had to pound the action into it. The color was a sort of dusty grey-brown - kind of like the chocolate bars in Canadian IMP's.

Now all you guys have spray-painted so many camo stocks, by the time I get a norinco, I will have to pay a premium if I can even still find a non-bubba'd GI stock.

sure thing. If only you can imagine the paint being intact and nice. The truth is that there are two brown shades on each and every stock I've ssen, with the outer layer usually chipping off like crazy. The paint inside the forearm is scuffed and flaked, and it is worn out on many other spots.
Getting to paint these stocks is not Bubba. Consider it just as taking them out of cosmoline...... I hope this helps
