Uberti 1860 Army drop in R&D cylinders

I have a pair of 1860 Uberti Armys and need a cartridge pistola for cowboy shooting. I read in The Cowboy Chronicle that drop in 5 shot cylinders from R&D are available from Taylor's & Co. and are SASS legal. Has anyone here tried this and how did they work out? The cylinders are about $200 and I already have holsters so to save moola I am considering this to have a .45 cartridge gun.

Check the SASS rules on these 5-shot conversions. Usually you must have your hammer on an empty chamber when holstering your gun. That would make you only able to load 4 rounds which would be a huge disadvantage. I'm not sure if they make a special allowance for these conversions and let you put the hammer down on a safety notch between the cylinders. The R&D cylinders are excellent pieces of kit. I've got 2 for my '58 Remmies and have also used them on Ruger Old Armies.
