I recently acquired a newer production 1866 yellow boy carbine in .22lr. It came with the 19” round barrel and fixed flip up rear carbine sight. The front sight is part of the barrel band. With the ammunition I’m shooting i would need to file my front sight down considerably and would alternatively like to replace the rear sight with an elevation adjustable one. I roughly figure I need my rear sight 120 thou higher to make zero.
I’ve seen homestead parts makes a ladder sight that would replace it. My question is does anyone know if it would adjust low enough in its upright position for it to work? And if not does anyone know of an adjustable ladder type that would?
Any input would be appreciated.
