Good day... Need some help on this one!
I have a Uberti cattleman 1873 in 45 colt that has a very loose firing pin. I purchased this piece second hand and I was told it does have light primer strikes sometimes. Last range trip it was doing it 50% of the time... So I thought I would put a new spring kit in it thinking it was the mainspring. Once I had it apart I noticed that the firing pin moved "in and out" of the hammer ( front and back in the pistol). I do understand that they are meant to have an amount of wiggle room to align when firing. So the question is... I'm having a hell of a time sourcing a hammer with the pin or even just the pin... Anyone else have this issue?

Forgot to mention, after replacing the springs it still does light primer strikes even with handloads and different primers!

As you can tell I'm not a gunsmith!

The pin should pivot up/down as you say to align with the firing pin hole. It's possible you have a worn pin?

Brownells carries replacement pins, part no. 935-000-284WB
