Just wondering who shoots a 1873 cattleman and how do you find it for accuracy and handling with Cowboy loads.
Always loved the look of them and wnat to add a few to my collection..

You'll probably get more responses in the "Blackpowder & Aniques" or the "Action Shooting Games" forum. Try searching those forums first before reposting your question though. That's how I got a lot of good info on the 1851 Colt Navy that I still haven't purchased.

I have a cattleman in .357 as well as an open top in .38. I love them both. The cattleman is more accurate and more robust than my open top but both guns are well made although they definately needed the sharp edges taken down and a trigger job might be in order. The triggers on both guns are not to bad out of the box but they could use a little help. All in all they both work very well with CAS and I would have no problem recommending them as new aquisitions. One thing worth mentioing is that after a couple of hundred rounds you do need to check all of the external screws and locktite the loose ones. I don't know why they don't do that at the factory before they are shipped out.

Uberti sure does make some fine firearms.:D

I've got a 1873 45colt with birdshead grip,I wasn't real impressed with it out of the box with factory loads but after working up a load for it I couldn't be happier, It seems to like hotter loads. Blue locktite is your friend.

Do any of the sponsor dealers carry these? I'd like to pick up one and wouldn't mind keeping the business within the CGN community.

I have a Cattleman in .357 with a 5 1/2" barrel and the antique finish. As with any fixed-sight firearm, it can be a bit off for any given shooter. Mine shoots low and to the right for me. Of course, adjusting fixed sights is not impossible by any stretch, just less convenient.

I've been running both magnum loads and .38 special rounds through it and have not had any issues. I never got to test Uberti's Canadian warranty, 'cause I've never had a lick of trouble from it.
