The lube star is on the muzzel when you get enough lube the length of the Barrel. Any excess splaters on the muzzel. If you can get that, then most likely you won't have leading problems.

I use SPG bullet lube.
You do not need or want a grease cookie if you're shooting grease groove bullets.
These rifles like the case to be full of powder, then compressed.
My 45-110 likes 109 grains by weight, my 45-90 likes 87 grains and my 40-90 likes, 90 grains of powder.

I loaded up a 50 to try out most with 65g and some with 70. I compressed enough to seat the bullet to touch the powder and touch the lands. I think the 65 ended up being .200" compression.

You knives are a real inspiration. I just picked up an old 25lb little giant copy hammer. Going to try my hand at some blades. I will post any progress on the knife forum.

you will have a lot of fun with that one!!!
I have the Pedrosoli Sharps and the Uberti Highwall.
the Sharps shoots the 500 gr lee gas checked bullet like a bench gun.
the attached pics shows a nice group made this winter at 100 yds (actually 8 shots through.) I think you will find your gun was made on Pedrosoli catings.

Thats some nice shooting Randy B. I am not used to the open sights so I got a lot of work ahead.
