Anybody here own one? I have located one online I'm interested in but would like to hear from actual owners or former users of this gun. I'm looking at a 20g. x 26" x IC/Mod, straight stock, dbl triggers. Should be about perfect for grouse/woodcock I would think.

That sounds alot like mine, that I purchased from Marstar years ago when they had an estate sale. It was marketed under the brand name of Kassnar, but a look at the proof marks revealed it's Ugartechea origins. I would have been happy enough with a handy 20 ga with the proper chokes for upland, but was floored when I found out that it's an Uggy.

I payed $350/$375 plus tax and shipping and have been very happy with it, even if I've only downed one rabbit thusfar. It points and shoots nicely at clays and would do well if I could get out more for grouse. Compared side by side with a Stoeger or Steven double, I'm sure that the difference in weight and pointability would be readily apparant.

BTW, I later found the same shotgun in a circa 1980 gun digest type book for about $700-800, which was probably more costly than a Browning at that time. Pretty surprising since it has standard extractors and a simple boxlock action.

Had a 20ga Ugatcha with 26" mod/full, just did not fit, and the choking was really open, not great for bush hunting partridge up here in NWO! Great gun for the price, would have worked well in a more open hunting situation, worth no more than $400. New guns by this maker as pricey, and just awsome, they cannot build the barrels now for what one of these 1950-70's guns can be picked up for used, good luck Dale Z!

I love mine, it's a model 75 in 28 gauge.

There are a variety of grades with the boxlocks, so price can vary quite a bit. I have a 20 ga. boxlock, double triggers, choked IC/M. Wonderful little gun to carry. Nice guns.

Will make an excellent game gun if that fits and is in great condition overall. Just go for that if the price is right. Should you decide otherwise, PM me with details on the shotgun provided that is ok with you to do so. Thanks,

To this day, I can't get over the fact that the sxs sat on Marstar website for weeks (2005 I think) and I kept deliberating whether to get that or not. :(

Like many Spanish guns, there are various grades made by Ugartechea. Some are cheapy and some are high-end hand finished stuff. I have a 20ga sidelock choked cyl and imp cyl that i like for woodcock and grouse. Buy the gun, not the name.

It's actually a 645E that was imported by Parker Hale. Not sure how old that makes it but the pictures show a very clean gun.
Like many Spanish makers Ugartechea made guns under a variety of labels. Companies that imported them usually specified a specific price point. The Parker Hale guns are considered to be a step above many of the other imports that Ugartechea made under other brand names. Having been through the Ugartechea plant in Eibar (among several others) I would put them on the same level as AyA, a company that also made a wide range of guns of various grades.
