I think there is a Great deal on the Howa in 6.5 Creedmoor ($989?!)

Or

A middle of the road reloading set up (https://backfire.tv/reloading-kit/)
(I have a 6.5x55, but ammunition is scarce)

What would you do? 😀 That Howa is calling my name, but I would like to have the reloading gear to shoot centrefire with better ammunition… and more often.

Have you thought about just spending $1000 on ammo?

I have. I ‘could’ buy $1000 worth of mediocre 6.5 x 55 ammunition (@$50/box I’d get $400 ‘bangs’) and not buy reloading gear OR switch to a more modern (lower recoil, higher speed, reduced powder, more readily available), and then save up for reloading gear…People who reload tell me they’d never go back (to commercial ammunition).

Or, get the reloading gear so I can shoot the 6.5x55 as much as I want…

do you have a long future in shooting?
is it the chassis or the 6.5 creamer that tweaks your interest?
can your 6.5x55 be put in a different stock or chassis to rekindle the love?
it will do anything most shooters need

What is your goal? Both are good options depending on what you want to do. 6.5cm in a chassis is a good place to start if you have aspirations of getting into something like PRS, but if you're just looking to make shooting more affordable then just getting a reloading setup makes a lot of sense.

What is your 6.5x55? An old Mauser or something newer like a Tikka?

My 6.5 x 55 is an M96 (Mauser).
My long-term goal is positional shooting (PRS).
Currently starting with Rimfire,
production class, to see if I like it (or will put in the time) / go shoot in Minnesota/Wisconsin.

I’ve decided to invest in reloading, so I can shoot decent priced quality ammunition with my 6.5 x 55 and my other Centrefire rifles. BUT

I’m also going to sell two vintage enduros (and some other stuff) to finance an entry-level PRS Centrefire.

Cheers to you all for your comments.
Props to NorthPro for a great deal. Hope all the new owners are happy.
