With a new barrel, yes. If the base of the 74r fits the bolt face (no idea, have never seen one and I don't have a reloading book infront of me) , and the extractor can handle it being rimmed. But you are getting into serious money there, a 9.3/74r barrel is likely a custom item for an m96 (and would the rounds even fit in the mag?)

Is rechambering to 9.3x74r an option? I still have ammo left over from a different abandoned project...

I would think the Bolt face won't match. Probably pretty long to fit in the magazine too?
