Uh oh! Made the mistake of handling a model 70 fwt compact at my lgs.

I don't know about the compact, but just had to look at a .270 Featherweight that had nice wood. Had to buy it. A couple of months later I was feeling safe to just look at a Supergrade Feather-weight also in .270. You'd think that you'd be safe enough under those conditions but you'd be wrong. Bought that one too.

I'm surprised you made it out of the store.

Awesome rifles. I don't have a compact but two regular Featherweights. One a blued .308 and the other a stainless .30-06 which is soon to be something else.

I have a compact in 308. I broke the stock at the wrist one day. It sux to be me I guess. I sure did love that little stock. I put it in an el- cheap-o Ramline stock, had to get a deeper mag box. It has never been a very good shooter if you are lucky 3 shots into an 1 1/2. This gun also hates any of the loads I have tried that are near max.

I had one for my son several years ago, it was pretty finicky to shoot and recoil was substantial for what was coming out the other end.

Other than being lively in my hands, not much else to like about it.

My oldest daughter has the featherwieght compact in 308 win its a great handling rifle for her height, she's about 5,5 maybe 5,6
I ve shot it a few times it handles well and I would not hesitate to hunt with it and I'm 6 feet tall especially later in the season when I'm wereing a big coat. The stock is well designed and recoil with full power loads are just fine.

Now that's what I call a "run-on sentence..."

They are ballistic twins. What are you waiting for???? Go back and make a deal before someone scoops it on you.

I'm strategizing a bit with .308.i have an s load of .308 projectiles. Oddly enough,I have four .30 cal rifles but never owned a .308.Been thinking of getting a nice compact .308 of some sort and now that I've held this little beaut.....I want one.

I bought a nice 1990's rem 700 SS/syn with a tiny pencil 20" barrel. The gun weighs about 5 3/4 lbs with a scope on it. It is in .308 and it has become my HANDIEST, most beloved rifle.
Seriously, I always sneered at the .308 (always in the .30-06 camp) but I handload, and it is a seriously good round. I think everyone should have a short , handy, .308 bolt.

Sweet looking set up. Got a nice little leupold vx-11 2-7x33 sitting idol right now and she'll suit the little winny to a tee. Hmmm,a pare scope is as good a reason as any to buy it I guess.lol

If you are looking for someone to talk you out of picking one up ...... I think you came to the wrong place ;-)

Nice Looking Rifle

I have a mod 70 featherweight carbine in 30.06 that I got in 1978 when I was 13 years old. Its dropped countless animals and still looks like new. The best part is that it shoots really well with cheap factory ammo.
