Hey,

Wondering if anyone knows any good places/sites to pick up a UIT rail mountable Sling Setup...

Probably not wording this very well lol... what I am looking for is something that will attach onto a UIT rail that will allow me to attach a sling... something for HK Hook... or Swivel... or flush cups... or whatever else... preference would be HK HOOKS or Swivel though.

Thanks,
- Koshy

What you are looking for is called a handstop. Anschutz is one brand name that comes to mind. Champions Choice, Champions Shooters Supply, Sinclair's all have a handstop of some kind.

I don't see any for Swivel or HK HOOK for UIT rail :p

Does the hand stop that came with your rifle have a swivel, I can't tell from your pictures.

It appears not to have a swivel. But it is also a large piece of d shaped plastic... with a spigot sticking out of it as well... if I can help it I rather be able to get just a sling mount (HK HOOK or SWIVEL).

What is a HK hooks? I can refer you to suppliers for most things that go on a rail.

That is an example of an HK HOOK mount, basically a circular ring, rather then a rectangular (usually swivel).

You can get a Parker Hale or VersaPod handstop, which has a flush cup at the bottom that will accept an Uncle Mike's QD sling swivel. I use this setup and it's pretty handy for shooting sitting (elbows on knees).

Hey, yea it turns out it comes with a Versa-Pod handstop with built on for QD sling swivel... but I'm going to try and work out if I can find anything for HK HOOK.

Also will the lateral movement of having the sling attached to say the left side of the forestock at the front via the 1913 std rail cause a left side pulling thus less accurate then it being mounted to the bottom of the rifle's stock?

I think the Tubb 2000 rifle uses a loop vs. a swivel, so check out the accessories for that rifle and you might be able to find it.

Nah... One way or another, you'll have to wrap the sling around your hand, so whether it's attached under or to the side won't make a difference (I've tried both). However, you can improvise a single point sling by connecting one end of the sling to the flush cup on the stock forend and the other end to the handstop. Loop the sling behind your upper non-shooting arm and, voilĂ ; I find this setup really steady.

Thanks for the information... what about the sling being mounted on my strong arm side (where the bolt action is -- right side of rifle if looking down sights)... am I really going to be able to use the sling from that side for anything besides carrying or will it just be messy and in the way?

Okay so I talked to a professional... in order to keep from running into torque issues it is best to have the sling mounted opposite my sling arm (weak arm), or underneath the stock. If I mount underneath the stock I need to find a mount for the UIT rail that is a HK HOOK circle... otherwise I cannot mount the single point sling adapter to the rear of my rifle (uses a D ring)...

Another option is to take the 1913 rail on the strong arm side of my rifle and mount is further forward on the stock... then attach a 1913 rail adapter with HK Hook circle... then rear of the stock would be fine with a single point sling adapter (uses a D ring).

But if I mount on the right side, won't it be kinda messy because of the fact the sling would have to go under where the mag well is, or over where the scope is?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

messy and in the way

Bingo.

When you shoot slinged, it'll be a bit awkward to get the sling looped around your hand properly if it's on the opposite side of the supporting arm... Some of the 3-position/silhouette shooters around here might be able to provide you with some proven insight; I just do what feels steady for me.

So when's that alphamount coming in? :p

Also, yea that was my concern with having it on the strong arm side =/

Damned if I can find a single UIT rail adapter for a HK HOOK though... you think someone would make them... it is simply a bloody circle! Called like 4 places (all of the ones you listed) without any luck =/

I'll either have the Alphamount this week, or it will probably come next week.. if he wasn't able to finish it up last Friday, then it should be finished this Friday... although I haven't called him to ask if it is done or not (don't wanna bug him :D).

Problem with opinions is, everyone has one hahah...

So now I have two differing opinions, one says, mount to the bottom of the stock because it will keep you from having the torque of mounting it to the left side, which is also your sling arm...

The other opinion says, mount it to the left side, because by mounting it to the bottom and having the rear of the sling on the left side of the butt plate can cause the muzzle to roll...

Ugh!

At the end of the day you may be better off just using swiviles with a TAB Gear sling style sling.
I use MASH hooks on my AICS and they are are great at marking up the stock . As well as when shooting sling supported theres nothing like having a large piece of metal dug into the back of your hand.

That's why it's best to get the rifle complete, go to a range, shoot, then ask questions... Don't you remember the old mantra of shooting first and asking questions later?

Also, with a single point sling (or the way I improvised), you won't get the roll of having it attached to the buttstock... BTW, I was wrong about the Tubb 2000, it uses a ball & socket type connector for the sling on the accessory rail - sorry about that

Accuracy International comes with circular loops like you describe, and the slings that come with it come with clip on hooks like HK offers... But that's a whole other rifle, so your search is still on. When you give up, go here.

If I want to mount at the buttplate to though, using a QD swivel would require drilling and tapping somewhere...

If I go with HK hook no drilling or tapping required... as I can just use a D ring in nylon strap attached around the rear of the rifle.

Hang on a sec... No offense, but you dropped like 5000$ on a tactical rifle and it didn't come with swivel studs of any kind!?!!?!

Damn... Well, You could try a real single point sling that would attach to the bottom of the handstop, and you wouldn't need any additional gear.

Yea but isn't there added stability with 3 point slings? :p

It appears to me there were places to mount one... but because of the added monopod.. it removes that capability... I almost have 100% certainty it is a McRee stock..

One option might be to add additional spacers to the butt plate and then cinch the nylon with the D ring to that... but then I may run into eye relief issues :p
