Anyone tried the forward optics mount from UltiMAK. Fulton Armory sells something similar. This version cost $199 USD compared to FA's $299. Apparently these type of mounts solves the problem of "cooked scope" when a heated barrel transfers the heat to the scope via barrel mount contact. Anyone here experience a "cooked scope" from their forward mounted scope set-up?

Stupid question time.... .....

The Ultimak site is trumpeting about "co-witnessing" iron sights with red-dot types. What is this? Does that mean actually aligning/aiming with your iron sights right through the red-dot?

If so that sounds like a cool idea. If not....then what?

jjohn....you are right. That is what co-witnessing means. Some advice I've heard though, is to have your irons co-align in the bottom third, not the center, of the optical that way they can still be used but don't take away the advantage of the great visiblity a holo, or red dot, provides. Paralax free optics allow this to work.
