I have a SA M1A Scout coming in the next few weeks. I am interested in the UltiMAK m8 top hand guard to replace the factory Scout hand guard. I would like to try my Aimpoint, but I want it to co-witness with the factory irons. On another site, I have been told that this is the only way to get an optic to co-witness with the irons.

So my question; does any vendor sell these in Canada? Has anyone had any experience using this mount arrangement with success in co-witness?

Thanks in advance.

Yeah, I've got an e-mail into Brownells. It's just that by the time it gets to me, it will cost north of $300. Damn dollar!

I mounted one and with a bushnell TRS-25 it will cowitness with the iron sights . On the 18.5 in versions of the M-305 they have a different barrel profile than the 22 in versions . If mounting an Ultimak on a shorty a little material from the underside of the ultimak must be removed at one spot so the Ultimak mounts flush . Nice piece of equipment !

Yes a Micro or Comp sight with the lowest mount will cowitness properly. You will have a great setup. It doesn't bother you that it's restricted? Once 18.5" barrel were rare but nowadays there's many options for a short non-restricted M14.

Op said he have a M1A scout not a M305, it will mount without modification.

Is the m14.ca SHG not low enough to co-witness? I have one but have never actually tried to mount a red dot low enough to co-witness.
Yeah it may be as low, interesting to investigate. The look is different but both are good quality products.

The SHG positions the optic just as low as the M8.

The SHG is lighter than the M8, and you can add mini side rails.

Yes you can easily co-witness your irons through a low sitting Aimpoint, or similar RDS with M14.ca's SHG.
