Kthomas is correct. If a 700 is done properly the interface surfaces are square ...and "square is square", lugs are even and the center axis of the bore/ bolt face / bolt body and chamber all pick up together - This can all be achieved by blue printing a 700 - it just costs more to tune up a 700 - ..and then its still a 700....but it will shoot with em'all....but the braized on bolt handle might fall off

Owners of actions such as Deviants, Surgeons, Bats are looking for other things:
1. No work or money to invest to "fix" the 700 action... it is good to build now - perfect and true
2. usually an integral recoil lug and integral rail - that along with a side port window does increase stiffness
3. these actions are bullets proof
4. Not everything is about tight tolerances - this is so they function in the rain and mud and sand that plays roles in military like applications and competitive tac style prs comps
5. they want fast glass smooth, reliable ejection, reliable feeding ....................and after all that it should look ###y as hell cause it should make a guy smile when he just bough a Ferrari instead of a camaro

The review was not a great review but honest so then at least worthwhile

It is great to see Canadian companies investing time into these projects.

Seems strange to have such strong views on a subject where there is no data and you're just passing on what you've read/heard.

If you look at the PRS website, even in 2014 some of the top competitors were running Remington 700 actions. If they were seeing real disadvantages on target I doubt this would be the case....granted that Defiance actions seem to have become dominant since then.

I have high hopes for the Ultimatum actions...Canadian made and with an interesting feature set.

The M700 actions that are/were run in the PRS matches (and probably more relevant in terms of sheer accuracy in F-Class/BR) are not exactly off the shelf items anymore. Tac-Ops down in the states makes incredibly accurate rifles off of M700 actions - they also cost something like $6,000+ to get up here with a sometime 2 year wait.

I personally feel that barrels are more important than the action but that is me - I really could be 100% wrong.

I hope the Ultimatum guys can put out a good action, it seems to have some cool features that other actions dont. However, there are a lot of M700 footprint actions out there now (GAP Tempest, Insite has theirs, Ultimatum, and I am sure some others).

We want to clarify the situation on the bolt lift. We are working on an "update kit". Anyone already owning an action will get a kit, which will reduce the bolt lift effort by a lot. Actions currently sold will come with different firing pin spring options. For the customer shooting military rounds (yes, some do) a stiffer spring will assure no misfires as the military rounds primers are harder to set off. For the customer shooting hand loaded ammo, softer spring will translate into smooth and soft bolt lift.

As for accuracy, like it was mentioned; ammo, barrel, quality of chambering, quality of optics, and shooting skills are what will make a tight group. The floating head design along with tight manufacturing tolerances/clearances on our actions assure squareness and accuracy.
