Ultimate 10/22 threaded receiver : Canadian breakthrough design

The "news" are like this:

The design is now in the lap of Joe Dlask.
Now it has a removable second hold-down at the rear.
A batch of these receivers are being machined right now.

I should say in here sumpin that I should have said earlier
about the stocks that are suitable for this project:
To take full advantage of this design's capabilities, I believe that
pillar bedding is a must-have addition to this project.
Also, a solid, large, heavy stock is very suitable.

Now, for people who don't know this,
pillar bedding goes very well in wood/laminate and fiberglass stocks.
It doesn't do well in plastic stocks,
no matter how many studs/cross-pins
you will install trying to assist the "bondage" or the unitizing
of the bedding in the stock.

So, even if some of the plastic stocks are nice, solid,
I would not recommend them
because of the above.

For wood stocks, you can try:

-Boyd's, almost any laminate model you like,
if it's SOLID enough (AFAIK they ship to Canada).
-Revolution (Revival), the model Yukon (or Yukon Extreme),
sold in Canada by Bits of Pieces,
-The simple laminate (NOT pressed sawdust) that was put
by Ruger on their 10/22 T model.
-Maybe you are lucky and you can find this mother:
http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=339852
Ruger offered it for one year only. It's so rare, it's collectible.
-Stay away from the stock made by FA Enterprises and others like it, because
due to its design, inletting for the second hold-down weakens the tang area.

Or, if money is not a problem for you,
try to find a nice fiberglass stock that is solid enough.
But make sure is fiberglass.
"Syntetic" or "Composite" in some adds
doesn't guarantee it is made of fiberglass.

Also, stay away from Bell & Carlson.
Their stocks look nice in pictures,
but the material is the worst ever, some kind of poly foam
that is brittle and snaps like old cookies.

I strongly recommend after you order the barreled receiver
you send your choice of stock to DlaskCo
for the little additional inletting to accomodate
the front of the receiver, barrel nut and the second hold-down.

The Yukon stock looks nice. I'm definitely interested in one of these rifles. I will contact Joe Dlask for further info, but I can share my wishlist here:

1) A stainless match grade 16" barrel from Shilen, Kidd, etc.
2) Integral 30 MOA rail, or failing that the regular receiver so I can put a canted rail on it.
3) Barrel installed, and pillars, bedding, and free floating already done.

I could get all the action bits and pieces later.

1) A stainless match grade 16" barrel from Shilen, Kidd, etc.
The gun in this thread has a propietary barrel.
Nobody else makes that particular barrel profile
(thread dimensions are the ones that are critical).
However, you probably can opt for a barrel made by Dlask from
the blank of your choice (Shilen, etc).
I suggest you window-shop around for the blank you want
(find price, lead time, etc.), then talk to Dlask and find out how much
would be to make the barrel on your blank,
so you know how much it would offset the price.
Talk to MysticPrecision for Shilen blanks.
Kidd don't use their "own" blanks,
as they build their barrels on Lothar Walther blanks.

2) Integral 30 MOA rail, or failing that the regular receiver so I can put a canted rail on it.
In that case, I suggest you go with the flat top,
and hopefully soon Dlask will have a MOA rail available or
find another MOA on the market.
Integral MOA-canted picatinny on that particular receiver
would be difficult, since the top of the reciever
(weather it is picatinny or flat) is used in aligning the receiver
during machining.

3) Barrel installed, and pillars, bedding, and free floating already done.
Well, then I say you go ahead and buy the stock
and send it to DlaskCo at the time you order your gun.

I could get all the action bits and pieces later.
If I can make one more suggestion,
try to send the specific internals you want to use
to Dlask for a proper fitting
(bolt and spring/rod would be more important than the TG).

BTT!

Well guys I finally sent off all my parts to Dlask for my new rifle.

Specs:
Dlask threaded receiver
New Dlask Barrel
Boyds Blaster Stock (pillar bedded, second hold down)
Kidd: Bolt, Charging Handle, Springs and Captive pins
Timney Trigger...(maybe)

This should be one hell of a rifle when it's done! I'm patiently waiting because I know good things come to those who wait for these artists to work their magic.

Here's a small video of what I'm gonna look like when I receive it.
