Hi All,

I would like some feedback on what is the best polymer pistol chambered in .40 S&W.

I understand that this is a highly personal decision, but specifically looking at how the pistol recoils (accuracy) and how the polymer frame handles the kick (fun to shoot).

I own a .40 S&W CZ 75 SP-01 tactical and love it! The full-steel frame, I feel, makes this gun very accurate and enjoyable to shoot.

I see a lot of models that come in both 9 mm and .40 and I'm concerned that guns built for a 9mm cannot transition to .40 S&W without drastically changing the shooting experience and so you're feedback, both positive and negative, would be appreciated.

There is no such thing as "the best" pistol in any category.
What may be the best for You, may as well be crap for another guy out there.
I never really understood the whole concept of .40 being "so much more snappy" than 9.
I barely can feel any difference between these two rounds from the same platform...and I'm rather skinny.
Go with whatever works best for You.
The most popular polymer pistol in .40 is Glock 22 - especially in North America.

For me, I find my M&P 40 to be very twitchy. The barrel really pops up on recoil. My steel 45's actually feel like lighter calibers in comparison.
However, since it's the only polymer 40 I've fired and I own it, naturally it's the best one! The grips are great, the gun feels comfortable in my hands, the action is smooth and the trigger sucks rocks.
 
FWIW the M&P was built as a .40cal and then chambered for 9MM. I like both the PRO an FS guns. Ergonomics are superior to Glocks for most. Try both and pick one.
 
I own a USP 9 but it was originally chambered and designed around the 40, not to mention it has an internal recoil buffer. I saw a guy shooting one the other day and it didn't look any snappier than my 9mm.
 
:stirthepot2: Let's not forget the .40 S&W came into being because some of the little folk toting an FBI badge couldn't handle the 10mm.

Now if you complain about the grip size of a Glock 20 I can understand, it is a mitt full...

And to your original question, I'd get a Glock 22. I'm not too fond of them to look at, but in my head it's not a fashion show. I'd say the Glock has more than proven itself.

Not to fond of the PX4 or M&P I found them too snappy. I like the XDM 40, great fit in my hand, accurate as all hell and easy to take down and clean. Also I had a round blow up in my XDM and no damage to the pistol what so ever, thant was the deciding factor of never getting rid of the pistol.

Anyway, back on topic.... On the original OP's question:

Best polymer framed pistol in .40 S&W would be the one that fits you best.

In my case, a Glock 22.... have shot thousands of rounds thru 'em. My well worn 2nd gen G22 would be my go to.

If you don't mind me asking, why polymer and not another steel frame? My wife's gun is also a CZ-75 SP01 in 9mm. She absolutely loves it. Personally I shot a few poly-frames and didn't care for the feel. I kind of built like a bear so I just found I liked the solidness of the steel framed heavier. Went with the STI Edge in 40. For me it came down to trigger feel.
