OK so I'm a gunaholic, my pastime is playing with rifles and stuff.

Here's one I Just finished inbetween work and building my house.

This is a project that I purposely tried to build a rifle that was 5lbs with a scope for the ultimate backpacking rifle.

It started life as a 260 Remington Ti

-So yeah its got the Titanium action
-Chambered in 7mm-08
-Custom pencil contour Hart SS barrel cut to 20"
-Gre-tan match pin/spring and shroud
-Lonewolf kevlar/Carbon Fiber stock
-BDL bottom metal, probably could have dropped some weight there but I prefer BDL

Metal work done by Bill Leeper
Stock work done by myself

It tips the scales at 4lbs 15 ounces scoped

Well, I can not say it is an Ultimate Ultralight Rifle, but it sure is light.
Browning Ti , with B&C stock,Ti. action and SS 23 '' barrel.
Scope is a heavyweight, so by shaving the 4-14X40 Leupold down to something smaller I could lighten it some.
Also it is the venerable .325WSM that is loaded with some 200gr. Accubonds.
Will see how they shoot next week and will weight it for comparison to the Ultra Light that Brambles has built.
I aint claiming to be lighter, just a comparison is all.
How does she shoot?

Just finished it, still a virgin.

Did you deal direct with lone wolf, or did you bring it into Canada via other channels? How was it to finish?

I just aquired a model 7 in 308, and have similar ideas for it. The first step is to replace the handle.

Finishing it was WAY easier then the MPI that I did on another rifle and the forend is Very stiff on the lonewolf. The action area needed to be relieved which was a little counter productive because the action area is lined with carbon fiber cloth, but nearly all of it had to be ground away before the action would sit down in the stock and provide enough room for bedding. Unlike some of the wildcat stocks that come pre-relieved and require no material removal before bedding.

All and all I'm very happy with the Lonewolf, for a stock that arrived at a CH over 10 ounces it is a very ridgid and nice to finish stock, not as flashy as the Bansner with the nice gelcoat but less than half the weight.

So far I've used MPI, Bansner, Lonewolf, and Wildcat stocks. Now that the new Robertson website is up I might try one of those one day

Pm me if you have any other questions

How would you rate/compare those brands (quality, workmanship, weight etc etc)?

BTW, that is a very nice rifle!

Wildcat and Bansner are about the same weight wise, and similar in price,
You get a little bit more of a personal experiance when dealing with Wildcat, Stewart is great to talk to. under $300 for a blank

Lonewolf, Really great stock for the weight, communication is lacking, $500 for a blank

MPI for their lightweight stock just isn't there yet, not sure about their standard weight stocks, $500 for a blank
