Has anyone had first hand experience with the Deadline Action and what are your thoughts. I have read a number of articles that seem to be much more positive then their U300 Action.
I am looking at a few actions and I would like to build an all Canadian rifle (Just cause)

Let me know your experiences

Give Casey a try @ TacOrd, IIRC he's built a few? Good Luck.

I played with one quickly at a match in Edmonton this summer. By far the worst action I have ever felt. When I ran the bolt it felt like there was a bunch of sand in it but it was clean. The bolt lift was very heavy and it was also heavy when you #### it shut. If I needed another sort action I would go with an impact precision. This is just my 2 cents

2nd that and they will bind in certain actions to the point in which the bolt will not cycle. Long ways to go to get to even stiller level type of action

I have a Deadline, and would disagree with the above comments. Bolt lift is comparable to, if not slightly lighter, than a Defiance Deviant when compared side by side, and the action is plenty smooth. I ran it in matches all year, and it’s been perfectly reliable and easy to operate. No complaints.

The Deadline I played with was really impressive, I never tried the U300 though so I have nothing to compare it to. They seem like well thought out designed actions, I will be picking up one in the next year or so, probably will be a long action. I really like the idea of a 3 lug design, twin ejectors, and the fact that the short action can use AI and AW magazines is just gravy. Try one out! Worst comes to worse if you don't like it you can always sell it. Those barreled actions they are selling look like a sweet deal as well!

The only thing I question is their use of just 1 screw to hold the trigger hanger in place. Every other action I have seen that employs a trigger hanger retains the hanger with a screw front and rear.

From my limitied experience playing with it.
Not fully functionnal yet.

Was in stock and shipped quickly from Jerry @ Mystic Precision.
Yes there is only 1 hanger screw for the trigger.
Bolt lift is very similar to the feeling to my savage 10, maybe a weight gauge would say different though.
In my MDT ESS, the rear end portion of action is literally floating, so if i torque properly screws, even by going 5 front 5 rear at a time, the action will bind, needs bedding. MDT included shims but this doesn't seem as good as bedding.
Firing pin and spring are easily accessible by a twist of a button, very well made.
For the price, would of loved to see the rail either in steel or machined 1 piece into the action, instead the steel rail is a costly option.
Integral recoil lug will require no indexing, even easier to swap barrels.

I am happy so far, but will see once everything is assembled and ready.

I became a dealer after playing with a sample action. The Deadline offers a ton of features, very nicely machined, and operates very well. I have my reviews in my dealer forum and on my facebook page.

As part of my business, I get to play with a wide range of custom parts... the Deadline offers some features not found in most Rem 700 clone customs. It operates very smoothly and the nitrided finish glides on itself. I typically do not oil the bolt as I shoot in very dusty conditions.

Extraction is very positive which I have tested with overly hot ammo... do not try this at home.

Ejection is best described as energetic... tosses the cases a good long ways and at an angle that hasn't touched my scope at all.

Feeding has been smooth and it even runs AI shouldered cartridges well. The rifle pictured is in 260AI which can be a pain for some actions to feed. It functions just fine with ammo that is 2.93" long.. max length housed in the MDT 10 rds staggered steel mag.. no notching required.

With the McGowen 7 twist prefit, my testing at 285yds shows this combo will shoot very well with the Matrix 152gr bullet. Group on the left is 0.70" which at 285yds is in the 1/4 MOA range. This combo will shoot.

Forest fire smoke rolled in soon after this test day and I haven't gotten out in nearly a month.

If you would like an action and/or set up an entire rifle, I can certainly help and offer pretty much everything to complete and can do some discounted packages. If you are in the OK valley, come on by and you can see and function the rifle and decide for yourself.

PM or email.

Thanks

Jerry

I don't know what was going on with that unit but my SA is almost as smooth as my tikka precision build. It's silky when working on the bolt. Lift is definitely heavier than my 700 or tikka, but not substantially so - what you would expect from a 3 lug. I've only put maybe a 100 rounds through mine but the finish looks like new.

Like Jerry said, the action will shoot - I'm well aware that accuracy is more a function of load and barrel but I've managed 1" 5 shot groups at 300y (ES of 8, SD OF 4) with my carbonsix 6.5 Lapua barrel. It dropped in my chassis like a glove.

MDT AICS Mags have worked 100%. I'm not sure what else I'd need an action to do for me.

One of the very few reviews I've been able to find online. h ttps://rifleshooter.com/2018/08/review-ultimatum-precision-deadline/

Online magazine as close to paid ad as you can get. Great source. From the guy who also received U300 for a review before and did good )

The bolt lift smooths up very nicely with useage.... like any other custom action. I have cycled mine a bunch and it now opens far lighter then out of the box... which was not bad already. I am sure yours will do the same thing over time.

It becomes lighter then a number of Rem 700 clone custom actions due to the hybrid #### on closing set up.

Love to get some pics of your rifle and range report... please email.

Thanks

Jerry

You do not have to sell it. Ultimatum Deadline comes with a no questions ask guarantee for 30 days. If you don't like it we will take it back!

Thanks

Does it have to be NIB or you mean I can put the rifle around it, shoot it, see how and why I'm not happy, take the action out and send it back to you if it is under 30 days?

A friend of mine got a Deadline last year. Had a local smith fit a Bartlien 6Creed barrel, dropped it in a MDT ESS and the rig is an absolute hammer. It's a smooth, tight, great functioning action with reasonable bolt lift, IME. Now they make a LH action, I'm very tempted to build a heavy 1/7 223.

Just fastened my 26” M40 IBI to my deadline tonight.
The threads are very tight, i should of borderline purchased the action wrench with it.
My savage 10 action can screw and unscrew out of barrel like butter, this one had me use a spud wrench on recoil lug.

At least when torquing barrel nut the action doesn’t go out of indexed headspace.
Now only left to bed it and i will soon have an honest opinion on it.
