Ultimatium Deadline Action - Reviews, thoughts etc?

Marty!

You have nothing to be so humble about.

The action was CLEARLY described and marketed as AICS magazine, drop into chassis, ready to install barrel affair. I was following most of the info about deadline since like last fall and it was always represented as ready to go assemble yourself deal. There were multiple "reviews" and media where the action was showcased in exactly same MDT chassis with AICS magazines and specific point on easy to change barrel and common footprint.

Only some time later small footnotes make it through, regarding some extra space to fit trigger as compared to standard rem700 footprint, but it was always mentioned as very very minor thing and MDT chassis would already have the relieve done.

Never it was mentioned or implied that AICS magazine would be a problem, or in fact most of the time AW compatibility was not even apparent. It was never mentioned that deadline is significantly different from rem700 and/or required a specific bottom metal or modification of thereof. If you were to take plastic mags you won't even be able to modify lips gunsmith or not.

At the 2:02 AICS mag compatibility:

From my point of view, you did nothing wrong but took the product description for its face value with unfortunate outcome.

Glad to see Ultimatium stepped up to assist in commenting on this. Took a little longer to rectify then I thought given the large number of views this post had.
Maybe this was just a one off issue with this action. It will likely help others consider this as an option seeing that the company has stepped up to take the action back. Really will make it a low risk option.

Hey MartyK2500

We are sorry that this is not working out for you. To be fair we have zero complaints from any of our customers with AICS mags. We have run, and continue to run AICS, Accurate, MDT, Magpul and AI AW mags. The .050-.060" mag latch trim (for NON-deadline inletted) stocks/chassis' is documented in our website. This is due to the fat bolt body design, which in turn requires a larger diameter receiver than Rem700.
We do have a 100% satisfaction guarantee and we understand there was a delay in getting your build completed in 30 days. Nonetheless if you ship it back, we will refund you including shipping no problem.

I have to say that is some pretty awesome CS - You do not see something like that very often.

Marco is taking care of me via e-mail, thank you guys this is top notch customer service.

Can’t complain about that sort of customer service at all, I’ll second what Ryan has said as well, I’ve seen these actions on the firing line in action and the guys I know running them run them well with no issues. I know you stated that you liked the idea of not having a to use a Gun smith but in this instance I think it would have been beneficial to use one. I’ve personslly made ai,aw,magpul, and mdt mags feed with all sorts of cals in both 2lug and 3lug actions. Including the br sized cases right up to the 338 lapua ai.

I have used race 1911s when I was competing seriously in IPSC.
I since long for freedom from gunsmiths, I have my personal reasons, but to me to be self reliant, is an absolute must.
Less competitive yes, but this is a good timing as I am not competing right now.
If I was serious about competing and not a casual long range plinker, I would of probably got the build done 100% by a smith, and wouldn't have used a barrel nut to start with.

To each their own, but if your dropping good money of parts not sure why you would not want a quality gun and all that money spent and tuning mags on a 1911 isn’t the same as tuning mags on a rifle.

I don’t compete seriously in pistol either anymore.
So no more custom gunsmith special handguns in safe either.
Running a G17gen5 until i get back at it, at least a glock sure keeps your fundamentals in check.

I am/was ready to pay for top quality as i did, but in the parameters of plug and play.
The most quality i can find within those parameters is Savage stealth ba evolution.
I’ll strip it down to bare receiver and bolt and start my next project off that. As it’s got the savage target receiver, which has lot’s of meat at the top instead of being half cut off, for rigidity.

Hello all, wondering if anyone knows if the new ultimatum action will work with factory bdl bottom metal? I don’t want a mag kit on my HTG stock and would like to use BDL and try out the ultimatum action.

Regards

Unfortunately, the Deadline will not work with BDL bottom metals.. you could run a short mag though!
