o i picked up an invested myself , into the Ultra light rifle game, an obviously went with a low scope ring to mount it nice an slender looking......

key word of the above is 'looking' , so all cometically............

when in reality, when i put my cheek on the little kimbers stock, my eye is atop of the scope............ an i must lower my head on it more... not ideal.

is anyone here actually Properly set up for correct scope height for cheek weld on an Ultra light? or is everyone compromising a little, because they look like a sheep rifle with a low scope? :D

asking for a friend:stirthepot2::stirthepot2::stirthepot2:

wouldnt mind seeing any improved sight heights on ultralight please.... asuming Talley will be the G O ?

Hard to argue with Talley for LW mounts. If they are too low, go the next size up.

Going to have too Blargon, , even though though my Abolt has weaver bases and QD setup, it sits real neat with the cheek weld - eye level..... i am thinkin WTH i havnt done something aboutthis kimber sooner!! obviously makes shooting the same way each time ALOT more predictable!

Anyone happen to know which bases Fit the Kimbers? is there another ? off top of my head i cant remember which one but i thought one bran did :D

It's just physics, Lad. Proper scope height is a function of stock ergonomics, and the way each shooter holds a gun. Typically I want the scope as low as I can get it on any rifle, as long as the bolt handle clears it comfortably, but I have guns where I have higher rings to make the ergos work. An adjustable cheek riser is a great feature on some rifles. :)

Talley makes weaver style bases. Weaver two piece base sets for the Remington 788 will work with a very slight trim to the rear base for clearance of the bolt handle if you use the back mounting hole

Scope height is a personal thing. Cheek bones, length or lack of neck, square or angled stance, LOP, horribly mis-shappen heads and stock design all come into play.

For me the perfect fit on a Kimber is Leupold double dove bases and super low 30mm rings. They allow me to get the scope another 1/2” farther ahead, which saves the expense of lengthening stocks, are plenty low enough for a good cheekweld. For the next guy it might not work.

This^^

I have two kimbers set up with smaller scopes in talley lows. They both fit me perfectly. I have a couple set up with high talleys and for those I added adjustable cheek rests.

Talley makes rails, bases, rings and one-pieces (several height options) for the various kimber models. Several other companies have options as well.

Low S&K rings/bases are about perfect.

I have an ultra light hunting rifle in 284 Win and use Talley LW Medium for a Leupold 3x9x40. That is where my comfortable position is. To each his own .... Low were just too low.

Its cheek weld not chin weld LOL.
You must have a long neck ,most complained about wanting a higher comb if anything.Just goes to show you every one fits a stock differently.I will also venture to say that when you shoulder someone else's rifle you find the scope to be askew?Long neck syndrome.
Some people require more of a drop in order to fit the stock better,Kimbers are straight comb no drop at the heel.

I have extra low Talley’s on my Montana 243 with a Leupold 2-7x. No problem shooting well through the rifle - but the bolt grazes/barely clears the scope when working the action. Will be switching out to Talley lows.

Legends!

currently this is my Rifle.
Talley Lows!

yeah I rekon neck issue might be there.... i have a bad back/neck shoulders, yu name it LOL

Those with a kimber know how 'compact' the kimbers feel to begin with, LOP is short i find, an the Comb has no drop as mentioned above--- i like those kind of Stocks (or is it the like the look of it)......

i will try get some pictures to demonstrate , an see what you guys think from there.... althogh sounds like Medium are on the cards.

will look at 783 mounts, an look for kimber stuff but id say its a brownells online thing.
