Ultralight bolt action - build one? Or just buy a Howa Superlite?

Savage ultralite very very accurate rifle. Just saying try it and you if you don't like it you can always resell and built your rifle. The Howa seems to he accurate only wirh certain loads and only with the first 3-4 furst shots. I don't have experience with it and my comment is based on a couple of videos ou Youtube so for what it's worth.... But my brother inlaw has bought the Savage and it's a winner. My 2 cents ! Hope you find your grail !

Does Kimber ship to Canada? I didn't realize they've stopped shipping to Canada. Their website says they won't ship out of the US. Maybe I should keep mine? Beautiful, accurate and light.

To bad, they're excellent firearms for the mid range price.

Yea Kimber being gone from Canada for years ! Korth was the distributor BUT who knows why ? I’ve owned 5 Kimber Hunter rifles and Unfortunately I sold them all . 😢

IME There’s a hell of a difference's in accuracy between a factory barrel and a hand lapped custom installed on a factory rifle, prefit or smithed.
I hold very tight and get no benefit with triggers under 2.5 pounds. I have two TT 2 stage. One is in still in the box. Early 80’s REM 700 triggers are superior.
Personally I’d put a skinny IBI or JC Custom steel prefit on that little Howa and giver.
I need someone to talk me out of making a bad financial decision.

So I'm currently obsessed with building an ultralight bolt action brush rifle. I'm thinking 5 lbs and a 12" - 14" barrel. I'm debating whether to buy a Howa Superlite and cut, crown and thread the barrel... Or build something with the following components list.

Meanwhile, a Howa Superlite with a 16" barrel would weigh 4.3 lbs (68.8 oz), obviating the need to buy the stock, action, barrel, barrel nut, bottom metal and magazine. All in with optic, rings and brake it would come to 5.12 lbs. So it's even lighter too, and that could be reduced even further by cutting the barrel to 12" with a crown and threading by a gunsmith. EDIT: Yeah, realized that's illegal. Nevermind.

All in the cost would be about $1800, so less than half the price.

What would the Howa be giving up?

Howa has a 90° bolt throw instead of 60° that the Terminus Apollo Lite TI has...

The Howa would only take the proprietary 3 round mag, no option for a 10 round.

The Howa trigger would be far inferior to the Triggertech trigger

The Howa isn't available in all the custom calibres (was thinking .338 Federal)

So - convince me not to blow my money on a custom rifle.

Gravel Agency has 23 models on their site. Not sure how many they have in stock.
