I also clean my model aircraft engines in my tank and had aluminum stained only when I forgot to take them out and sat over night etc,

I have a heated 20 liter unit in my gun room.. love that thing so many uses

I go dish soap for a solvent.

Recently added a teaspoon of citric acid and now my brass is shiny looking too with absolutely no extra effort.

Drop the part into a ziplock bag size appropriate for your part. Fill a ziplock bag with right amount of gasoline, diesel or any other cleaning agent of your preference. Zip it up. Fill ultrasonic cleaner with clean water, drop ziplock bag in and turn it on.
