Save yourself the time, and go straight to a bigger model, unless you only plan on doing a dozen or so (308-sized) brass at a time

Seriously, you fill the tank with water (or soap, or solvent, or whatnot).

There's a little piezo transducer glued to the other side of the tank, which vibrates the tank at ~40,000Hz and about 35W of energy. This basically jars free any sort of dirt or oils.

They work really well of you don't add too much stuff to the water - the more stuff you add, the more energy they soak up, and the less effective it becomes

From a reloading website, they say the best is to use 50/50 water/vinegar, 2-3 drop of dish soap and once clean, to rinse them well.

I use oxyclean in mine. Works well.

However, I never use it for gun stuff.. just my wife's diamond ring and my watches. For that, it's great.

You can get them at Walmart too, for about the same price.

They DO lose effectiveness over time. Try putting a little piece of tinfoil into the water when it's on... when it's new, it will destroy the tinfoil in about 30 seconds. Mine barely makes a few holes in it now...

Where can I get a bigger model? Would like to try one of these out but like you said they are quite small that I have seen. In my Lyman Auto-Flo 2200 I can fit several hundred pistol brass compared to what 50 in one of these small ones?

How long do you leave them in for in one of these ultrasonic cleaners?

Yeah I gotta do some sniffing around for one. I have 4 box's of 50 rounds a piece 308 win and only do a box at a time. These things are fraking expensive, but my uncle is a jewler just never in TOWN!

Check out a jewellery supply house in your hometown. Ultrasonics range from 50$ for an el-cheapo consumer grade, on up to 1500$ for something capable of standing up to production work in a gunshop or jewellery manufacturer. The one I have is about 350$, and works like a hot damn, I just don't expect it to last for much more than a couple of years...
