About two years ago I picked up a couple of "Trusonik" ultrasonic cleaners off eBay. One is a 2 litre model, the other 20 litres.

These units seem to be failure prone, which is maybe not surprising because they are made of Chinesium.

Within a year, the 20 litre one failed to turn on one day. Emails to the seller were ignored. I took it apart and I was shocked to find that part of the power entry module had melted and the factory had left the ground wire unconnected to the chassis. So basically the metal body could have gone to 120 V at any time. I replaced the power entry module and it is running for now.

A little short of two years, the 2 litre one makes noise but there is no ultrasonic energy making it into the liquid. I took it apart and there is nothing obviously wrong so I think the transducers are done. I guess I could source some transducers and bond them to the bowl, but ain't nobody got time for that.

Just wondering if anyone has found a brand of ultrasonic cleaner that works well, preferably around a $150 price point for the 2 litre unit I am in the market for?

I've got 2 ultrasonic cleaners, a table top Eumax UD100-SH 3 litre that I use for brass, small parts, and handguns, and a bench mounted 6 gallon model that I use for long guns. I bought the table top model first, from Ebay perhaps 10 years ago, and I couldn't be happier with it. The Eumax head office is in Hong Kong, so I expect its manufactured in China. According to their brochure, the 2.0L and 2.6 L units have 80 watts of power and the 3 L have 100 watts. Either should meet your budget.

The 6 gallon model is the Crest F-1436HT, which is a commercial quality and priced machine.

I only use mine for ammo brass (and once in a while I throw my ring of keys in just to clean them up and take the stink out)... so I have a tiny little no name chinesium (I like that, gonna use that from now on) thing that only holds about 50 pistol brass at a time and they all have to be standing up.

But... it was $20 shipped from Amazon. If I get 2 years out of it, I will be pleased, and order the exact same one again. I can do that over and over again and spend less than if it had a firearms brand name on it. I could probably go through 8 of them and still be ahead.
