There was the GSG-5 in the past which was close enough to an MP5 for GSG to get sued and lose.

They were deemed prohibited as MP5 variant, I doubt this will be any different.

How did GSG get to sell MP40s and MP44s in 22lr when both are prohib in canada but cant sell an MP5 22LR replica? They are all simple blowback 22lrs, our rules in Canada are so dumb.

MP5's are banned by name and variant, MP40 and MP44 are banned because they are machine guns.

There are semi auto closed bolt MP44 clone's imported in the past from SSD. Unfortunately the good MP40 clones were open bolt and got prohib based on ease of conversion.

Why is a name considered dangerous when the 2 rifles share nothing similar mechanically. Its like comparing a Lamborghini and a fiero based kit car lol
