Umarex P2P HDP 50 Self Defense Rubber Ball Pistol 50 Cal

We have mainly a velocity limit, not a energy limit.

Likely limited it due to knowing others will shoot others, or could cause damage.

Old thread. But just to. Clarify….

IF;
  • Velocity greater than 152.4 m/s (500 fps) and
  • Energy greater than 5.7 joules
Then it’s considered a firearm. If it meets those thresholds then it would be a handgun. 4” barrel. 101.6 mm barrel, below 105mm so prohibited. But only if it exceeds the above criteria.
If either one is below, it is not a firearm under the Firearms Act.

But this is listed as under in velocity. So no issue. Only problem would be if ammo that exceeds these parameters is available and it used. Our rules are confusing and arbitrary.

Do you remember the Toronto van-on-the-sdewalk killer? Do you remember his arrest? The police officer was brandishing his pistol, and demanding that the killer comply with his commands, but the killer was undeterred. It was only when the police officer has the idea to holster his pistol and draw his baton (instead) that the killer complied. And I mean the killer complied immediately... once he saw the baton... he'd been willing to be shot with real lead bullets, but he was unwilling to be struck with a real steel baton.

So you never know.
Bayonets have the same effect on many peoplekind. Plus you can never run out of pointy pointy............
