Umarex Prymex - MV unknown

Just got one in 177 for $130 at Cabela’s.
Box says 1,200 fps blah…blah.

I don’t have a chrono, but what kind of MV can I expect with something like Stoeger X-Hunt 8.6 grain pellets?
7.9 grain CPHP reportedly shoots well in this gun too.

For now, I have put RWS 8.2 grain SuperPoint, and 7.7 grain R10 wadcutters through it, and it’s a little loud. Can’t tell if it’s supersonic, or just still dieseling.

I’m in a residential area in Edmonton, so backyard shooting is a no-no.

Youll find heavier pellets will be more accurate and decrease the report considereably. The only way to really know MV is with some type of chrony and not just guessing.

A lot of these ultra high advertised velocities are with alloy pellets not lead.

PBA raptors are usually the fave and if your shooting ten or fifteen feet they may be okay but at any distance theyve sucked out of any gun Ive tried.

Just curious to know if it was dieseling and the noise dropped back some. I recently bought the .22 version and only fired 1 shot through it and it was loud. Sounded like a .22 rimfire. Hoping that was dieseling as I watched several videos about the gun before buying and reviewers found it reasonable quiet.

I was given one of these ... seems very powerful...I tried several pellets through it and found the H&N baracuda 10.65 were the best... hard to get a great group with any of the pellets i tried... I guess this is inherent in less expensive guns

wow ... first time posting a pic... sorry I need to resize i guess... anyway this was the best group i got with the prymex and the H&N's... the majority of groups had at least a couple of flyers that were really out there
